Overall, my experience with Carmax was good. The salesman was great and very attentive and the business department was good as well. My biggest issue was with the Service Department. My salesman gave them a list of things to get completed prior to me picking up my truck, and they did not do a great job by any means. They said they would detail the truck, and it still looked about the same as when I first drove it. We also found kids socks tucked in the back seat. There was a large screw in the passengers front tire and they did not fix the tailgate as promised. The manager did offer for me to personally get my truck detailed and to bring him the receipt to get reimbursed. The ended up patching the tire and I am scheduled to get the tailgate fixed on 5/28/2026. More
This has been a nightmare experience. I traded in my 2015 ford F150 XLT that had no issues and purchased a new car that wasn’t what was expected, so I went to return the vehicle and was t I traded in my 2015 ford F150 XLT that had no issues and purchased a new car that wasn’t what was expected, so I went to return the vehicle and was told there was no hope without a $20,000 down payment and I couldn’t get me truck back from the trade in. After leaving the dealership I did research and was approved online for trade in and a low down payment, but was penalized with a high interest rate because of the other car still being financed. I brought the application approval back to the dealership the next day and the sales team was shocked that they were wrong. I then financed another vehicle after completing the return. Leading to another 6 hours at the dealership for my new purchase, I was leaving the dealership and I had a check engine light come on the dash of the 2nd new vehicle, the engine started shaking, several lights came on the dash and started flashing also the car started having a foul smell of burnt electrical. Being only 20 minutes away from the dealership I pulled over and called CarMax to explain the current situation, they explained that I could call roadside assistance to bring the car back to the dealership. I brought the new car back to the dealership and sat a hour before talking to a supervisor and being assigned a rental car till further notice.The car only had 40,000 miles and seemed to have a blown motor. I was called and told that they can take a look at the vehicle and see what the issue is next week with a unknown date on completion. I’ve bought 4 vehicles from CarMax over the past 10 years and spoke very highly of CarMax to anyone looking for a new vehicle but have been let down this time. You’d think they’d want to take some responsibility but haven’t shown a care to me as a customer and have me driving a soccer mom vehicle until further notice and damages my credit score so low that I can’t finance anything for several months. 👎 More

I love Carmax and will continue buying my vehicles from them. They price their vehicles fairly and also give great quotes when buying your vehicle. Shakil was very attentive and did not pressure me at all. I actually stopped in the middle of a purchase due to an engine recall that I did not want to deal with. He had no issue with that and helped me through the process of locating a different vehicle and having it shipped to my store. He was patient and helpful throughout the entire process. I financed through my credit union, and he even helped that process go smoothly. Buying a vehicle can be very stressful, but Carmax always makes it a lot easier than other dealerships. We have now purchased our last 6 vehicles from them and will continue to do so! More

Finally the finance person that helped us (she was great) saw us and got the "salesman" that was supposed to be helping us. He did not care at all about our purchase or us. More
