Buying a car at the Oceanside CarMax was a dream come true. Patrick was our representative and he was knowledgeable, incredibly helpful, kind and very easy to talk to. Buying cars at CarMax is quick and easy. The staff are courteous, knowledgeable and very helpful. The no-haggle pricing is fair and very much appreciated. We test drove a couple of cars before finally choosing one we love. Everything is perfect. We appreciate CarMax's 30-day no-hassle 100% warranty, too. We bought an extended warranty and the price of that was quite reasonable. All in all, it was a great experience. FWIW, this is the third car we've purchased from CarMax. We can't imagine buying a car any other way! More
The manager, Tyler made me return the car and I was told by other workers he was interested in buying it. He said there was an issue with the bank payment instructions and they’re have to hold the car f by other workers he was interested in buying it. He said there was an issue with the bank payment instructions and they’re have to hold the car for two weeks or I could take out another loan. This is after I already had the keys and taken the care home. Tyler lied repeatedly about taking care of the car loans (he said if I take out another one he would talk to my credit union to fix the payment instructions). He never did this. I had to spend multiple hours there and on the phone with to my bank to remediate this. This was my third car I’ve bought at carmax with this same credit union. After speaking with to another manager to ensure the dealer would cancel the second loan he told me that what Tyler did was incorrect and he should’ve waited until the credit union reopened to sort the details out and not force me to return the car. During this process Tyler bragged he’s owned multiple bmws and supras and he just sold his Supra. He said he was looking for the exact car he made me return. The whole experience was horrible and I will never buy or sell a car to CarMax again (I have sold 3 cars and bought 3 cars with carmax). This experience tanked my credit score and I still have to follow up with Santander to ensure the loan is cancelled. Tyler had the opportunity to wait to resolve this and sort it out with the bank once they reopened. He did not. He had the opportunity to sort it out after I took out a second loan and promised me he would. He did not. It was quite clear his employees were unhappy with him and this behavior of his was normal to them. More
