This was the first purchase I have ever made from a dealer where I took possession of a vehicle with an empty gas tank. I asked why the tank was empty before I left to which the reply was we don't have dealer where I took possession of a vehicle with an empty gas tank. Great experience, super easy and actually better pricing than several other traditional dealerships we visited for the exact same car! The difference is alot of dealerships advertise one price, but then h than several other traditional dealerships we visited for the exact same car! The difference is alot of dealerships advertise one price, but then have (non negotiable) "dealer upgrades" they have supposedly done to the vehicle which are a total scam and false advertising! NONE of that here! I paid the exact price that was online and no games!!! They are my go to for a vehicle from now on!! Also, one tire was a bit worn so they even threw in a FREE tire and even called to remind me they wanted to replace it for me! WE LOVE CARMAX !!!! :-) More

Working with CarMax vs the other dealerships I visited was night and day. I don't think I will ever buy another used car, anywhere else. I was looking for a specific make and model and visited every dea was night and day. I don't think I will ever buy another used car, anywhere else. I was looking for a specific make and model and visited every dealership that had what I wanted in stock over the course of a month. Every experience was a nightmare of upcharges for "service plans" that could not be removed and finding out that the price listed online was not actually the price. Also, damage to the vehicles like scratches, large dents and bad touch up paint. Even one car with 5 large cracks in the windshield and no intent to repair or drop the price which was actually $2K more than CarMax! CarMax was the opposite. I was concerned because the vehicle I wanted was in Arizona (I'm in Texas), so there was no easy way to see it in person, but it was refreshing to see they post detailed photos of every bit of damage online, so you know what you are getting before you pay to have it shipped, and there is still no obligation to buy if you change your mind. No trying to hide things, and they stand behind their commitment to you as a customer. There were a few scratches that happened in transit, but they repaired them without batting an eye. There was also a tear in a seat that wasn't documented. No problem. Sent it to the shop and the repair was such a perfect match, you wouldn't even know. And the repair was not just the minimum to address the issue; it is fixed the way they would want it fixed if it was their own personal vehicle. All of that is enough, but every person I encountered was so friendly and helpful. From the sales associate I spoke with on the phone, to the customer care team while the car was being shipped, to the team at the dealership that processed the sale once the car arrived. The sales manager was so disappointed the paperwork took longer than I was promised, she offered to pay for dinner for us since we had to wait! So kind and so appreciated but not necessary. Even after the paperwork was signed, the service team has been so responsive to every question or concern. Dave is my new BFF. Since mentioning I was buying from CarMax several friends and family have told me of the great reputation they have, but seeing it firsthand has been a game changer. I also wound up financing though them because they beat my pre-approval rate by almost a full percentage point! Truly a one-of-a-kind experience after several weeks of dealing with all of the worst used car sales stereotypes. I will tell everyone I meet from here on out, CarMax is worth your time. More
