My Review of Clay Chevrolet Hyundai:
Went to this dealer for my 60K Hyundai Elantra service. They seem to have done a pretty decent job. I shopped around with several other dealerships. All of them quoted a price for the 60K service + timing belt change upwards of $1K ! Imagine buying a car because of its low cost and ending up paying so much for the servicing. At Clay, I ended up paying a total of $750 for the 60K service + timing belt change + new radio antenna. While the price might be a bit more (about 200-300 more I might say) than other mechanics, I think its important to have these bigger thing done at a dealership. My previous experience was with Tom Hyundai in Newton which was terrible: for 30K service, the guy was haggling upwards of 800K for the 30K service, and they destroyed my gearbox. I had so little faith in them that I got an independent mechanic to fix things for me again, at my own expense.

I waiting lounge is quite comfortable. I deposited the vehicle at 8:10am on a Saturday, waited, and picked it up at 2:30 or so. The folks are quite polite and reasonable. I had recently done an oil change elsewhere, and they were nice enough not to charge me for an oil change I didn't need. They even have free coffee/capucinno etc vending machine, as well as a nice 42 inch TV showing CNN.

Highly recommended.

My Review of Clay Chevrolet Hyundai:
My experience at this dealership started on a bad note while test driving the vehicle, the salesman quoted me a price $3K over what they were advertising online. Everything went downhill from there. Just to get the price back down to their advertised rate I was forced to negotiate back and forth for 3 hours with some fictional "sales manager". When we finally agreed upon a price (I was upfront that I had secured financing elsewhere), I was promptly asked for a deposit in the form of a check... 5 minutes laterthe salesman presented me with the check announcing it was declined loud enough for the whole room to hear (although there were plenty of funds in the account to cover it). Confused and embarrassed I wrote a check from a different account, again "declined" by their third party system. After two embarrassing and unnecessary "declined" announcements I decided to call my banks. Sure enough, both accounts had the money to cover both checks. So after all this trouble, they tell me I could have used a debit card and avoided the problem. Great to see they were watching out for ME during this process...

Next I was ushered into the "finance and insurance" department where I met with a man that was determined to say and do ANYTHING to convince me to finance with him. He called the bank I planned to finance with and created a fictional problem over the phone in front of me about the title exchange. He told me he was SURE the bank would not release the check without the title, and of course he would not offer the title OR a guarantee of title (something I know he had and could have given me) without receiving the check. He continued to tell me different stories for Clay's "policy" on title exchange. First it was a fax to the bank, next it was they mailed it and his final story was he would hand me the title to bring to the bank when I brought him the check. During the debacle he kept repeating that I should simply finance with him that day (at a rate twice what I had secured with my bank) and "just refinance out of it after a couple months". He continued to pressure me to close with him that day with various sleazy remarks such as "you won't even close with that other bank until next week sometime, don't you want to drive off the lot today?" and "It's just four payments at 9%, that isn't that much of a difference" and my personal favorite "Don't you want to make this easier on all of us". After 1 hour of his poor sales attempts, I told him I was calling the loan officer at my bank to get a straight answer regarding the title exchange. I found out they were telling him they would release the check and just wanted me to deliver the title after picking up the vehicle. The whole time he was lying about what "someone from my bank" was saying on the other end of the phone line!!! I can not believe how dishonest this man was! After the lie was aired, I told him I would not be financing through him and he moved onto his next high pressure sales pitch. He then lectured me on their "bulletproof" extended warrantee, which I declined as well; I am sure making him angrier. I left the dealership and closed my loan at my bank the next morning (not the following week as Keith had warned).

I drove to the dealership after the closing WITH CHECK IN HAND ready to exchange my money for their car, makes sense right? WRONG. When I arrived at the dealership, the F & I manager promptly took my check telling me it would "make the process quicker" if they processed the check first. Keith was informed I was there and had me wait in the showroom for 2 hours before asking me into his office! After 2 hours of standing around, he had me sign 2 disclaimer forms (of course to cover their ass, which took 30 seconds by the way) and informed me that I could not have my car or the title because it was a weekend (or in reality they wanted to make sure the BANK check cleared on Monday)?!!! He wouldn't even give me a bill of sale for the money I paid! This can NOT be legal! Clay Chevrolet took the bank check for a vehicle and would not release the title or the vehicle to me??!! Not surprising Keith's new “weekend title policy” contradicted what he was preaching the day before "when we receive the check, we release the title". When I asked to speak with the general manager, no one seemed to know where he was... typical scumbags. The best part about this situation is how incompetent the staff at Clay is... as Keith was telling me that I would not receive MY car until he decided to release it, the salesman I dealt with handed me the keys to the vehicle and was having it cleaned and filled with gas??!! Ironically two days later I am holding the keys to my new car and am unfortunately paying for a vehicle that is being held at Clay Chevrolet by a man that is angry at me for not financing through him. And of course no one at the dealership seems to know how the title is going to be delivered to the bank (an important

My Review of Clay Chevrolet Hyundai:
Wife and I went into the dealership this past weekend and wound up buying a demo Veracruz. I had worked in the car sales industry years ago and so asked a few questions to sniff out whether the sales associate was on the level. He absolutely was. The no pressure sales approach was 10 times better than what you'll find right next door at Boch. These folks are on the level. Do your homework, come in with a realistic price and you'll walk away happy. I was very happy with the price, the vehicle and the service. Also the lounge was nice -- they must've refurbished it since one of the older posts since I spent about 30 minutes watching the Pats on a big screen tv (the Bruins were on the smaller tv) while drinking free hot chocolate.

Not to mention that the Veracruz blows away the Highlander (don't care forthe body style), Pilot or CRV.

My Review of Clay Chevrolet Hyundai:
After liking the Camry, I decided to look at the Sonata at Clay as they are the largest Hyundai dealer in the area. Pat Ford was very patient and knowlegeable. I liked the car. He let me know that they were a volume dealer and would beat anyone on price. I made a rediculous offer which was accepted, and bought the car $500 under invoice, which was 5k less than the Camry, and got a good trade. I liked their no pressure approach and they were close to the best financing, so I let them finance. No comment on service yet, but I do reccomend them for sales without reservation. No fancy customer lounge or even a decent coffee machine, but an excellent buying experience. Make sure you give the process plenty of time.

My Review of Clay Chevrolet Hyundai:
We have already purchased 2 vehicles from this dealership and went in to trade in our 2006 Tucson for an Elantra. We discovered that we were more than a little upside down on our trade. This was a little dissapointing as we realized we probably didn't make the greatest of deals the last time in. Ok, lesson learned. Moving on, we spent the better half of an afternoon trying to make a deal and left the dealership with an offer but no papers were signed. During the ride home we decided that this was not a great deal and called and cancelled the proposed transaction. End of story, we thought. The next day I get a call from Ricardo who would really like to help us so he sweetens the deal. However it wasn't sweet enough so we negotiated back and forth for a couple of days. Ricardo had to keep checking with his boss (chris)and I had to keep checking with mine (wife). I made my final offer and Ricardo said he'd check with Chris. The next day Ricardo calls with their final offer which was about 400 more than mine so we accepted. We made an appointment to come in on Thursday the 3rd for as Ricardo states to get all the paperwork done and both of us have to be there. This is where it starts to get sketchy. We arrive on Thursday and pick out the color. Ricardo asks for a check to hold the deal so we gave him one. He then says we can pick up the car on Saturday at 2pm. Ok we ask but I thought we were here to sign papers. He says no we already have your signature on file and we'll finish on Saturday and by the way we only need your wife here.So why did you need both of us here I ask and he says to help pick out the color.Well I didn't need to drive 30 miles out of my way to pick out a color. Saturday comes and my wife arrives at Clay Chevrolet and Hyundai to pick up the car. Ricardo meets her at the door and says "I just tried calling you but you can't pick up your car today" Why she asks, "because the wholesaler hasn't signed off on the trade and he won't be back until Monday". "You can pick it up on Monday". So Monday arrives (today) I call Ricardo to let him know we are on our way and he says he needs to check if it's ready and he'll call me right back. That's the last I heard from Ricardo. A few minutes later Chris the manager calls me and says we can't do the deal as agreed upon. The wholesale market has changed and unless we come up another 1500 dollars the deal is dead. Are you kidding me. We debated for a while but bottom line I could not force him to sell me the car at the agreed upon price. So buyer beware at Clay Chevrolet and Hyundai and make sure you get your deal in writing because INTEGRITY is non-existent.

I contacted this dealership by e-mail looking for pricing on a car. They did respond but said they didn't have it in stock so they weren't interested in giving me a quote. I bought a car from another dealership that was willing to sell me what I want, not just what they have on their lot.
