Bought a 2017 Yukon XL Denali, 2 days after getting home the transmission was vibrating and shifting hard from 1st to 2nd gear. I brought car in and they test drove it, it was clearly vibrating and had poo the transmission was vibrating and shifting hard from 1st to 2nd gear. I brought car in and they test drove it, it was clearly vibrating and had poor shifting. Service said they put the wrong gas in it. I explained to them it is a transmission issue not an engine issue. They wrote it off and wasted half of my day and left with a broken car. I am genuinely disappointed in a very reputable dealership like Clay Cooley. They should have given me a loaner car for my large family and kept the vehicle to diagnose the issue properly & repair accordingly. More
I bought the (preowned) car there because I liked it so much but had time constraints. The whole process could have been a more pleasant and exciting experience, starting by rushing me during the test driv much but had time constraints. Then, when I wanted to see their dealership's presale servicing protocol, it was initially refused, and my questions about the specifics of the service history were not answered. Next, the car was sold with an oil change due, but I was told everything was up to date, so the first thing I got to do was to schedule an oil change. Further, the car was advertised as having a specific driver assist function, but it was not equipped with it, which I found out during my drive home. At least the car was fueled before I left. The whole sales process was painful; I spent 6 hours at the dealership, though they knew I was coming in by one-way rental car since I live 2 hours away. I do not know what took so long since the car was technically ready. This seems like a sales tactic to wear out the customer to sell an expensive coverage plan at the end, which is how it was done with me. They sold it to me as an essential thing (just 100$ a month more") to have, which even lowers the car loan interest rate (which it technically did, but in the end, I pay way more), but did not disclose the total costs until I signed the papers-it added 6000 $ to my loan. The finance person commented, "It's just the first shock." I regret falling for such a tactic. I recommend putting the money aside for potential repairs and not wasting money on such protection plans. Those are designed to create salespeople commissions. Finally, I have a comment on professionalism: As a customer, I was addressed as a "man" instead of my name with phrases like "nice care, man." I am not 18 years old anymore and do not appreciate such phrases. I understand that the intent might be to relax the atmosphere, but I found it unprofessional. The purchasing of the vehicle was ok, did take longer than usual for a simple sale. It was late on a Saturday so certain things didn’t happen and that is expected. One of those things is the Carnet was not connected and working. We installed the app at the dealership but it wouldn’t connect to the car. It was 9pm Saturday so we agreed to work on it Monday if it didn’t work by then. Monday came and it still didn’t work. I even paid for additional services on Sunday that didn’t work. Monday when I contacted Marshall about it still not working we tried to troubleshoot the issue over text (many things I did on Sunday too) he then recommended I hit the “i” button in the car. I did that and after multiple attempts the CS agent couldn’t connect to the car. He said he couldn't do anything more and would have to open a ticket. This was on Monday August 12, 2024. The CS agent said it could take 2-10 business days to fix the issue. I relayed this information to Marshall and if I had issues I would let him know. The 10 business days passed without any information from VW. I called VW on Monday August 26th for an update. The CS agent put me on hold multiple times and didn’t seem like there was a ticket. He then said I just opened the ticket on the 21st and not the 12th. I have the texts on the 12th of them opening the ticket. So the long and short is the problem is not fixed and not sure when it will be. First time buying a VW and so far I wouldn’t buy another VW. The technology is not great, my 5 year old Ford has better tech, at least it works. The remote start on the new 2024 VW works 5-10% of the time from the keyfob. And in Texas at 100+ degrees at the moment it would be nice to have a cooled off car. If the carnet worked I could start/check if the remote start worked. The free trials for internet doesn’t work and will expire before using it. So that was a waste. The services I purchased and yet have been able to use is a loss. No reply from my inquiry to the dealership. I give 3 stars as that is an average rating, meaning this place and experience was just average. It really should be lower but I think this experience is typical these days. I wish there was a maybe on recommending the dealership. More

Looking for a "close by" dealership to purchase a new car and receive dependable maintenance service, but it took too long and they could not duplicate or find the problem. I do not want to look for another and receive dependable maintenance service, but it took too long and they could not duplicate or find the problem. I do not want to look for another service department, but I might not have a choice. Submitted my car early Wednesday morning for oil change, safety inspection and a starter or electrical problem which prevents the car from starting at times. Picked up my car on Saturday morning...almost 4 days later! I don't want to get stranded somewhere...I just want a dependable car, but it seems that may be too much to ask for from this dealership. Because of this, I must look elsewhere to purchase either a new or used car. I realize that my car is not a new car so maybe that was the problem. I've been coming here for quite a few years and habits are hard to break. Things change and maybe improvements will be made. There is definitely something wrong someplace here. Maybe not enough Techs, maybe training deficiencies, maybe specialized training in the electronics or starter system of VW cars or maybe new updated tools to perform the required maintenance. Believe I vented enough here. Right now I feel better until I get stranded someplace. More
