At one time, Cornhusker Toyota was a great place to have my Highlander serviced. That ended about 2 years ago. I had to replace some failed tire pressure monitors which took 2 trips as the mechanic couldn’t find all the failed ones before the end of his day. OK - understandable. On another occasion, they replaced the rear brakes and they howled quite badly. I took the car back and was told that they could not find a problem. I later took the car to a local mechanic who fixed it, and told me he had never seen such a poor brake repair. I was not going to use Cornhusker again, however, I had seen that Woohouse had taken over the dealership. OK, I thought, maybe they have improved. First, the guy at the service desk was too busy on his PC to acknowledge my presence. Finally, he took my car keys while acting like I somehow ruined his day. I had to replace a broken sun visor and a torn center console cover - $630. Not Woodhouse's fault. However, before I got the car home, the Check Engine and the Trac Off light came on, and the cruise control stopped working. Whether bad luck or not, there is no point in continually doing business where you come home unsatisfied with the work done. Maybe in the future, Woodhouse will get the mess in that dealership cleaned up. I certainly wish them the best. However, I will be taking my car elsewhere for the foreseeable future. More
The team at Cornnhusker Honda did an amazing job of finding me multiple vehicles. What I thought might take months to complete took only a couple of weeks. Dan was a good salesman, but I had an awful experience negotiating my trade in with Levi. After low balling my trade, he was rude to me the entire time we were negotiating. Product of a broken industry. I've heard some real horror stories about how people are treated at dealerships, and thankfully I didn't experience one of those. What I did experie I've heard some real horror stories about how people are treated at dealerships, and thankfully I didn't experience one of those. What I did experience was being lied to. Lies get you an instant zero. There are worse places, but them being worse doesn't make you better. Hard to wrap my head around how a professing Christian, in financing no less, can be comfortable with what amounts to piracy. But again, the industry produces thieves and liars. There are good eggs, but you have to look long and hard for them. Tips for buyers: - Do the math. I was told by my "Sales Advisor" that gap insurance comes to about $20 per $1000. Last I checked, 2% of 10000 is 200, not 995. Can someone check that for me? - Pay attention to the market. Alfredo told me their data is more up-to-date than what I can get when I mentioned the KBB value of the vehicle. The thing about this is that wholesale values are dropping fast, so the more up-to-date data would give you a lower number, not a higher one. Don't be fooled. - Know how long they've had the car. A good salesman at a good dealership will be open about which vehicles have sat the longest, and be happy to get you a deal on one of those. Good for the buyer, good for the dealership, since they bleed money every day it sits (usually only applies to new cars). You can find this information in the Carfax or AutoCheck, as well as on sites like Caredge. - Even if you plan to buy new, test drive one of their used cars. The car we drove had been neglected for virtually its entire 90 days on the lot. How a dealership treats their inventory can tell you a lot about their service department and how much they care in general about their customers. They'll always "Be happy to take care of that for you." Don't be fooled. - Never fall for "we're getting a lot of interest in this vehicle." Stupid line. Don't be fooled. - Learn to recognize when you're uncomfortable. go in with a plan. You shouldn't have to know more about the car than the dealership does in order to not get burned, but again, this industry is full of snakes and pirates. - If you're not a car person or you can't handle stressful situations, take someone with you who is and/or can. This is a big purchase and should be a well-thought-out decision, not one made in an afternoon. I spend more time preparing for a lawn mower purchase than most people today do when buying a car. Don't be stupid. - Ask to see your approval. They won't want to show you because their sell rate (the interest rate you pay) is often a fair shot higher than their buy rate (the interest rate they pay the bank). I walked away before we made it to F&I, but I would imagine this place is no different. I'd love to learn otherwise. - Get pre-approved. Don't just accept what you're given. My experience here was quite sad because this is the only Toyota dealership in the area. Maybe someday they'll grow a conscience, but until then, stay away. More
I am leaving a one star rating because there is nothing lower. I am a single woman and had always trusted Cornhusker with all of my routine auto maintenance as scheduled in the owner's manual. On July 11, lower. I am a single woman and had always trusted Cornhusker with all of my routine auto maintenance as scheduled in the owner's manual. On July 11, 2023 I left my Honda Odyssey for an oil change and requested a change of cabin filter as well. (I smoke and request this routinely with every oil change.) I recently took my car to a local mechanic to change a headlamp since I live outside of Grand Island and thought it would be a quick fix that would not require me to go to Grand Island. The local mechanic discovered that my oil cap had not been screwed on and was laying under the hood, the oil had been overfilled by at least 1 qt. This resulted in an unscheduled oil change to replace the oil that had been cycling through the engine that was exposed to the open road conditions. The cabin air filter looked like it had never been changed, despite my being charged for this on all past routine maintenance visits. The power steering fluid was low and had evidently not been checked at the last multi point inspection 4 months ago. One would expect a dealership service department to know what they are doing but apparently this is not the case. I have used the Cornhusker service department for all of my routine maintenance in the past, so I know one of their mechanics was the one who did this. I won't be using Cornhusker ever again. Sad that a local mechanic is more reliable than a dealership service department! I can not recommend Cornhusker Honda of GI service dept. I do plan to tell all of my friends and relatives and any Honda owner for that matter about the substandard service at Cornhusker Honda. More
