My Review of Earnhardt Nissan:
The car purchasing experience at Earnhardt Nissan has been absolutely horrible. I would not purchase from them again if they were the last dealership on earth. I should have taken the numerous salespeople waiting outside to pounce on unsuspecting customers as a warning sign.
I purchased a 2008 Nissan Versa SL from them last week, and the process is still not over. They attempted to add on $2500 of dealer-installed accessories, which quickly became discounted to $599. They had to do a dealer trade to receive the exact specifications that I wanted and the car was there for two days before I was able to pick it up. In all of this time, the car was still missing two of the accessories that we had spent hours haggling over. In addition, I was not able to ask my salesperson about these missing items as he left unexpectedly in the middle of delivery--which was very unprofessional. Nevertheless, I was told that my salesperson would call me the next day about this issue, which he did not. I also found out that one of the accessories I was sold is not normally put on the Versa!
I only received a call after I threatened to come in. My salesperson schedule me to come in on the morning of Labor Day, which I thought was peculiar but made no mention of as I know car dealerships are open on this day. To my surprise and frustration, I arrived Monday morning to find out that the service department was closed. I was beyond angry at the fact that they scheduled me to come in on a day that the service dept was not open after all that we had already been through. I immediately spoke to a customer service manager, John Patten, and he acknowledged that the service from my salesperson had been poor. He assured me that I would receive a call the following day to redress all of the issues.
I did in fact receive a call and was scheduled to have the remaining items installed the following day. I dropped off the vehicle to the service department the next morning, but left with little confidence in the service adviser as he was quite perplexed as to why there were keyless entry buttons on the outside of the door handles (this option is quite common on new Nissans). I dropped the car off at 10am and by 5 pm had still not heard from anyone at the dealership even though the whole process was only supposed to take several hours. After asking people to chase down the service adviser, I find out that the installer for one of the options did not show up today. I completely understand that this is beyond their control, but they did not even attempt to contact me regarding this. It is a week later and my car is still not what I purchased.
To make matters worse, to compensate us for our inconvenience, I was offered two movie tickets. My car's gas tank was untouched from where I left it that morning--the least that they could have done was to fill it up. I have visited this car dealership 4 times in the past week, spent countless hours trying to contact the incompetent people there, purchased a $20,000 car from them, and they give me a peace offering of movie tickets worth less than $20. I am embarrassed for them at this pitiful attempt at customer service. I will never purchase a car from this dealership or any other dealership owned by Earnhardt.
