My Review of Empire Motor Cars:
Ok, so we found this car dealership, and the review that it had was ok. My fiancé and I both have bad credit, but we are in need of a new vehicle. My fiancé found the "CAR OF HIS DREAMS". A 1999 Trans Am, V-8, Standard, Blue, WS6 Suspension, Ram Air. The online ad said $7,500.00. The price was a little high for 175,000 miles, but the car was pretty clean. We talked to Matt, the manager, and filled out a credit application on a Saturday. He told us that he would have an answer within the hour. He then called back and said that the bank was closed, so we would have an answer on Monday. Then Monday, he still hasn’t called. I called him. He said that he still didn’t have an answer. I asked him to call them. He never called me back. Then the finance company called my fiancé on Tuesday, asked a couple of questions and told him we were approved. I called Matt and told me our payments were 307.25 for 36 months. That totals over $11,000. I asked him to send me the invoice, showing the finance charges. The invoice had the wrong car, which leads to believe that the finance company thinks we are financing a different car. Then the price for the car was raised from $7,500 to $8,500. I asked him why the car was wrong, and he told me because they just pick a car to send to the finance company. I asked him about the price and he said there is a $2,500 fee for financing someone with bad credit and that we have to pay part of that. Then I told him ok, we will come pick up the car, again this was Tuesday. He then said, well there is a problem with the car, my detail guy took the car to get it detailed and he was hit from behind. I have a claim in with my insurance company to come out and look at it. I told him that he needed to call me when the car was ready. He said that the only way he could hold the car is for me to put the deposit down on the car. Don’t you think that if the insurance company was going to “fix” the car it would be in a shop somewhere and not on the car lot for a supposed replacement of the back bumper? Bottom line is that if you are financing a car with this place, check your paperwork, invoice and everything that goes to the finance company. We have contacted the finance company to check on the fees and prices, along with checking to see if the car we were going to purchase was the car they listed for financing. We are also checking to see if we are locked into this place or if we can take their financing to another dealership that is going to be a little more truthful in their lending practices.
