I travel for work and was in town, 190 miles from home. Engine was making a "rattling" sound that was suspicious. The fact they were proactive on an issue that presented itself makes me wish they were my local mechanic. It's always hit or miss with dealers, but they've earned my trust. The service I received was not up to par for a couple of months now. I mentioned many times in the past when I went to the dealership for oil changes and transmission flushes that I did not feel comfortabl months now. I mentioned many times in the past when I went to the dealership for oil changes and transmission flushes that I did not feel comfortable with the way my transmission was shifting and stated it felt like the transmission was slipping. I kept receiving the regular vocabulary of "the sensor light is not on so there is nothing we can do". I let it go and took their word for it. Then I figured why don't you get up off your behind and test drive it for yourself and let me know what you think like real mechanics did in the past. Long story short, I was driving to work and now the "D" (Drive gear) started to light up red and the RPMs shot to the roof while not moving any quicker. I continued to drive to get off the next exit for work and then the sensor light (transmission) finally lit up and I went straight to the dealership. I received the news from them later that morning that it was indeed the transmission. Something I knew a few months ago and tried to let them know so they could catch it. I believe this is something that should have been caught early if they actually did their inspections when they take cars in, if they actually did the inspections when the oil changes are done or even when the transmission or whatever service I had done. I believe they sold me a lemon and knew it. I also made complaints about the radio and electronics of the vehicle acting up. I will not buy another vehicle from 5 Star or recommend anyone else buy a car from them. I would also tell the finance companies not to finance their deals because of this. I bought many used and new cars from them and believe me this will be my last. More
Was lied to by general manager John and they took 45 days to repair my vehicle , the whole time blaming the warranty service, when it was their problem to begin with.i would not recommend this dealership to to repair my vehicle , the whole time blaming the warranty service, when it was their problem to begin with.i would not recommend this dealership to anyone. UPDATE TO MY EARLIER REVIEW! On 7-31-2023 I was contacted by John the General Manager of Five Star in Florence SC. I explained the bad experience I had with the service departm On 7-31-2023 I was contacted by John the General Manager of Five Star in Florence SC. I explained the bad experience I had with the service department last week. I even explained the comments I had been made aware of that were circulating around the community from someone in the service dept about me being bard from the property. John assured me I was never bard from the property and that he would have that issue correct. He asked if he could call me back once he looked further in to the issue. John returned a call to me a short while later and explained the issue was resolved and that no other issues would arise from this. He then stated they were going to issue me a refunded amount on my service bill and would have that sent to me immediately. I did have a bad experience with the service department and employees in the service department, but the General Manager John was very understanding, polite and provided me the best customer service I have ever gotten at Five Star! I took my GMC Sierra in that would not start. Travis that checked me in told me they were not busy at all and would check my truck Monday after noon or Tuesday morning. I called Tuesday and took me till 11am to reach Travis. He stated that they were very busy and would check it when they could. I felt he lied to me because the day before he stated they were not busy. I was very up he asked if I wanted a supervisor to call me. I stated yes. The supervisor called me and during the conversation I told a friend to keep recording, NO I WAS NOT RECORDING OUR CONVERSATION, who was video recording some issue at my home. The supervisor told me I did not ask to record him and hung up on me. I called and spoke to Justin who said he was second in charge at the location and explained I was highly pissed that I was hung up on! I explained the who situation and told him I could always come stand on the sidewalk and hold up a sign expressing the issue I was having for everyone to see. He asked for my name and number and said he would call me right back. He called about 10 mins later and stated my truck would checked the following morning but he could not promise when it could be repaired. Wednesday morning the supervisor that hung up on me called me and stated the wiring harness to my starter was broken and that they had one in stock and could repair it that day at roughly 672.00. I had no choice and stayed to fix it. I felt it was suspicious that they had a harness in stock for a 2014 GMC Sierra truck. I paid the bill and after getting home had a fried that is a mechanic check the work they said the repaired by putting a new harness on. It was found that NO NEW HARNESS was installed. Just a small wire was spliced in to the old harness. The mechanic that check what was done at Five Start stated that was about a 5 to 10 minute fix. The part they used on the bill was $60.22 and the labor was 547.00. 607.22 before tax! If the supervisor stated a new WIRING HARNESS was being installed why was just a small wire spliced in. This is totally unacceptable! When I picked up my vehicle the man that handled the transaction was very short and made uncalled for comments! I was also told by friends that the employee that worked on my truck has been telling other people in our community that the reason the bill was so high was because I had an attitude on the phone with the supervisor and that I had be bard from the property and if I returned I’d be arrested. When I picked up my vehicle no Law Enforcement officer responded and advised me I was not allowed to return to Five Star property. So apparently the employees of Five Star are trying to ruin my reputation. I will never do business with that company again! And I urge you not to either! LESS More
