Horrible customer service...they never call me back after trying for several weeks now...if I could go back i will never buy a car again here....again horrible CS....they offered me a lot when I was looking to buy a car and now everything has disappeared on my record... Please think twice before you buy a car here.

"Review of Gunther Collision Center in Fort Lauderdale"

This is my review of Gunther Collision Center in Ft. Lauderdale, an ICar certified and VW certified repair shop. I was in a rear end accident and I chose Gunter because they are a certified VW collision center. This was an insurance claim. Gunther VW certified collision center had my 2009 Jetta TDI sportswagen for 5 weeks. We went to pick up the vehicle on Monday Nov 9th. When the car was brought to the front it was unacceptable: • There was still a crease near the gas tank door (which was identified by our insurance agent upon initial inspection but overlooked or ignored by Gunther). • The replaced hatch back door was misaligned (it was so obvious, I’m shocked they allowed the car to leave the shop like this.) • The entire interior, every surface, was covered in dirt and dust, if I would have sat down, my clothes would have been black with dirt. • The exterior was covered in hundreds of yellow sap dots. • Ants had colonized the seats and interior. We have to assume Gunther left the car outside under a tree and with the windows open, as well as left the windows or hatch open while in the shop and sanding/work was being done all around it. It was clear that the car was never taped shut while the hatch was off to prevent dirt and grime entering the vehicle. Gunther also took all my emergency items (jumper cables, tire sealant, atlas, GPS, flashlight, etc…) out from the storage compartment between trunk floor and spare tire cover and threw them into the rear passenger footwells – never placed in bags, like one would expect from a professional shop. The passenger side turn signal cover in the mirror housing was also busted, Juan tried to tell us that it wasn’t Gunther’s fault. Our repair was an insurance claim. This car was looked over from front to back, top to bottom, by our insurance company, I know what condition my car was in when it was dropped off, the mirror was broken while in the care of Gunter. Lastly, the spare tire cover and waterproof tray were missing. We refused to take the car. A few days later, we were told the car was ready. I was rushed so we just took the vehicle. Upon driving it for a day, we discovered – the gas door wouldn’t open, hatch says it's open when it's not (this caused the rear wiper and water spray to not work,) trim coming apart on hatch door and my brake lights were not working (I was driving around for 4 days with no brake lights!) Meanwhile, we had to take out the seats and work on dealing with the ant colony ourselves, as well as vacuum and wipe down the car ourselves (I still would like to do a full detail to get my car to the condition it was before.) When I spoke with service rep, Juan, about how the car is still not finished, he became irritated with me. He started explaining how he was doing me all these special favors like – Covering for my rental – well, if my car was actually finished the day you told my insurance company it was finished, then the rental would not be needed. Fixing the mirror signal lens – Of course Gunther is responsible for fixing this, I didn’t drop my car off with it broken. Within six hours of having my car back after this repair trip, the hatch back door was still indicating that it was open. At this point I felt it necessary to stop dealing with Juan and to start working with the manager, Tom. He told me to bring in the car Wednesday morning and he would have a rental waiting for me so that I didn’t have to waste any more time on this. He assured me that I would get my car back done right and everything would be fine. I gave myself 2 ½ hours to go to the shop, get my rental and be back on time for my appointment. When we arrived, there actually was no rental waiting for me, Tom said it would be fine, this should only be a couple minutes. He looked at the hatch door and said it was our problem, we just have to really really slam the door shut in order for it to indicate that it was shut. No. No No No No. We asked him to please adjust the door so that it can be shut normally, the way that we have been shutting it for the last 4-5 years. This appointment took almost an hour, so I had to cancel my appointment. Adding more money and time lost that this collision center has caused me. After the accident, I was hoping to get my car back in the shape it was in before the accident.. I’ve never seen such unprofessional workmanship in the 4 years that I’ve had my car. I chose Gunther collision because I wanted my car to be fixed to VW standards. Reading how Gunter collision markets itself, I would say I received the exact opposite of what they claim to be.

No one calls you to let you know the status of your car and when you call there is always some excuse. The car was supposed to be ready after 3 business days, then 4 after we dropped the car off. They have had the car 10 business days as of today. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if someone is driving around in my car. STAY AWAY THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!!!!!!

Auto service organizations are more often than not lambasted and not praised. In my case, Jose Saldana the Assistance Service Manager at Gunther treated me well during my last visit with my 2007 GTI. He actually helped me out addressing an ignition coil problem that was related to an earlier recall - Jose went out of his way to get my car fixed at a reasonable cost where VW of America wouldn't help me at all. "Will NEVER Recommend!"

Purchased the car at Gunther VW and have been a loyal customer servicing my car there for 7 years. Brought the car in for a recall on the driver’s airbag wiring. They improperly repaired the recall and the issue got progressively worse. 5 Repair visits later they have “fixed” several different parts to the driver’s airbag system NEVER solving the problem. 4th Time I brought in the car they charged me $250 to repair the driver’s airbag bottom seat harness. 4 Days later the problem started again! I had to place a stop payment on my credit card and bring the car back in once again resolve the same issue. This led to me believe that they have no idea how to fix the problem and are playing a game of trial and error at my expense and my family’s safety. At this point I contacted VW of America. They assigned a regional representative and opened a workmanship concern. When I brought the car in for the 6th, yes, the 6th time for the same issue they started showing me photos from the previous redo-repair explaining that my wires were “chewed”. Um… sounds sketchy – they never told me about this at the last visit when the “chewed” wires were repaired or showed me photos. Do they expect me to believe those photos are from my car?! Then they proceeded to tell me that in order to repair the car the 6th time their last resort was replacing the driver’s airbag harness in the back of the seat and it is going to cost me over $800. I contacted VW of America in order to speak with the regional rep assigned to my case which was absolutely a waste of time and no help! VW of America has no empathy or concern for their customers! They approach the situation in defense of the dealership insisting that they can do no wrong. VW of America also insisted that because repair #5 had been fixed due to an outside cause (supposed “chewed” wires) they would not cover the expense because it was no longer a recall concern. I now know that those “chewed” wires were Gunther VW’s dishonest way to get rid of me. I am severely disappointed in VW’s response toward fixing a safety issue that may be the difference between walking away from an accident or not. In addition, the management (with exception to my service advisor) at Gunther VW is dishonest and lacking in customer service skills. I can no longer trust their work on my vehicle and will not be returning. Gunther VW should be disappointed to have lost such a loyal customer. I WAS the perfect candidate to recommend Gunther VW and the VW brand, but after such a negative experience and VW not backing their product I could NEVER do such a thing.

"Plantation Gunther Sends the Message, Go somewhere else!"

I recently purchased a 2004 VW Jetta for my wife. We love the car, however as with all used cars, there are things to fix. While trying to remove the left front wheel I ran into the security lug nut. I looked all over the car but the security lug nut socket was not there. I checked the rest of the lug nuts and fortunately it was the only tire with a security nut. My wife drove the car to the Gunther VW Dealer on US 441 in Plantation, FL. It is only about a mile from my house. They charged her $39 to remove the lug nut. It was literally a 2 minute job. They could have used the incident to reach out to us as future customers. Instead, we felt like they were telling us to go somewhere else next time. We certainly got the message loud and clear. I have heard good things about German Car Depot in Hollywood. We will try them next time.

"I was recently involved in a rear end collision that was..."

I was recently involved in a rear end collision that was not my fault in early January. I decided since I purchased my vehicle from Gunther Volkswagen of Coconut Creek that I would be taking my vehicle to Gunther Collision (a branch of Gunther Volkswagen of Fort Lauderdale). I was initially quoted 2 weeks on the repair which in then turned into 4 weeks with no update and costed me over $1000 in rental car fees. Upon initial review of the vehicle, I noticed there was moisture on the inside of the tail light and that the foam covering under the rear passenger tire was just hanging out. The service representative immediately had them tack it up into the body of the vehicle and said that the moisture should go away tomorrow. With over $4000 paid out from my insurance company, wouldn't you take care of the customer? Guess what? The moisture never went away! That is a safety hazard! So once again I had to drive back from Boca Raton to Gunther Volkswagen of Fort Lauderdale and have the tail light replaced. I also noticed that my vehicle was wobbling at higher speeds on the highway which once again they failed to appropriately test and address all the issues with the vehicle. I arrived back and immediately spoke to the Manager. He was unwilling to address the wobbling issue and stated that he can do an alignment, but if it was not unrelated to the accident. So I ended up speaking to Ron Verdetto of Gunther Volkswagen in Fort Lauderdale (who also supervises Gunther Collision) and once again asked me to take the vehicle back to Fort Lauderdale, I said no. I then spoke to Pete, Shop Foreman at Gunther Volkswagen in Coconut Creek who addressed my issue. So I thought great, I never have to see these people again. But then it happened... Living in Florida, we have severe rain and thunderstorms during the summer. I started noticing that rain was leaking into my vehicle, causing all of my carpets to completely soaked and generate a disgusting and repulsive smell. Once again, Gunther Collision in Fort Lauderdale failed. I immediately notified them of the issue and took the vehicle back. The original service representative that handled my issue said it would be done in two hours. I said what? You need to clean, dry and water test the vehicle to appropriately address the issue. I literally had to complain and complain until I could get a rental car from them. I spoke to Ron Verdetto again who stated that he would take care of me and that he apologized for the inconvenience. I still was not happy and left a message for Jay Gunther who is the owner of the dealership and did not even give me the decency of calling me back or contacting me. So in the next few days, I received a call back and said the car was ready. Once again, I drove back and found there was still water in the wheel well of the vehicle! I was fuming at this point and requested to have everything documented regarding the repairs of the vehicle as ever since the issue with the water they did not document anything for me. I waited a few days and came back again and found that there was moisture ONCE AGAIN in the tail light. I left the vehicle and on the next day it was addressed. Absolutely no satisfaction in this situation. It took me over FIVE times to get this addressed. What kind of service is this? I myself am an Internet Marketer and I work heavily in customer service. I would have never treated a loyal customer like this after purchasing 3 vehicles from Gunther. I will NEVER purchase a vehicle from any of Gunther's dealerships and I will NEVER purchase a Volkswagen vehicle ever again and nor should you!
