My Review of Hansel Honda:
This Honda dealer, like the previous Honda dealer I worked with, use the deceptive business practice of giving you a dollar amount for your trade in, and neglecting to tell you that this is the amount with "tax savings".

What this meant is I was told $13K for my car, which was bluebook for my condition. I was satisifed. When it came time to sign the papers the trade in was $12,500.

I had to have a big argument to get an extra $500.

My last deal in Illinois, I specifically said, you are giving me XYZ dollars for my trade-in, correct? They said YES, only to have the same experience.

So, even if they write it down and tell you the trade in value, it is NOT what they are giving you for the car.

My Review of Hansel Honda:
Bought a new Fit form Dan in July 08 through the Costco Auto buyers program. Dan was very busy and we ended up waiting in a holding pattern in the lounge. Absolutely no customer appreciation offered... Basically go sit over there and wait for finance. I realized there's not much profit incentive for the Fit, so, it didn't matter too much. Much later during the visit to the finance manager things started to go south fast. I had chosen the Costco program for haggle free shopping. This was not a haggle free experience. The usual scare tactics were employed. The usual add ons were feverishly pitched. This led to the final straw (the optional alarm). I was told by Dan, that the vehicle was equipped with only a keyless entry and not an alarm. I had thought that the vehicle came with a factory installed alarm system. Dan was certain, so, I reluctantly agreed to have the Karr alarm system added at delivery.
To make matters worse, unbeknownst to me the finance manager financed me under the cuddle system even though I told her multiple times from the start that I was pre financed. Each time I questioned as to her understanding of my existing financing, she claimed to be checking on my loan status. I found out about her scam only after the fact upon visiting my CU to make loan arrangements. My original loan had been replaced with another via cuddle. I would never had know if it wasn't for the CU representative pointing out the fact. No money loss to me it just meant the dealer was cut in on the financing. Another act of unprofessionalism in my book.
When I took delivery of car I was told to set up an appointment to install the Karr alarm. Within a couple of days my daughter set off the standard alarm that the vehicle was equipped with all along. I immediately contacted my salesman, Dan Thompson, and he said that he would see to it that my optional alarm money be refunded. To this day I have not received a refund. I have contacted the dealership numerous times. I have also contacted Costco advocacy numerous times. Costco has contacted the dealership several times on my behalf. They all tell me they just cant understand why I haven't received my refund. All parties are adamant that this is just an isolated incident. The paperwork is in and its up to the finance manager now. How does a business that acts this way towards customers continue to exist? Please don't give Hansel your patronage. I hope others share their experiences for others to earn from.

My Review of Hansel Honda:
I bought a used Honda Accord with 179,000 miles on it, and the very next day, the car blew a radiator hose in Rohnert Park. I called the Hansel Honda Service Department and talked to Luke. He arranged for a tow truck to bring me and the car down to Petaluma and then set me up with a service loaner car when he realized that he would have the car for a few days. Luke recommended replacing all of the hoses (as they all looked as if they had never been changed. In addition, I had the timing belt done and a valve job done. The car was returned to me in tip-top shape. I have driven it over a week and it purrs like a kitten. I expect this car to last another 100.000 miles knowing that all of my servicing will be done at Hansel Honda.

My Review of Hansel Honda:
I am satisfied with my deal I got from Hansel Honda & am surprised at the negative comments posted in 2004. Maybe sales has changed since then, but I leased a 2007 CRV & am more than pleased with my purchase. I love, love, love my new car for too many reasons to describe here & I was able to get a great deal on my financing, only $1200 down on a 36 month lease. I also purchased my previous car at Hansel Honda ( a pre-owned Acura Integra - never a problem with that car either). All in all, I am so happy with the dealership, I will certainly return there for my next car too.

PS the guy who had the rat problem should know that there isn't a warranty exists for any product that would cover damage done by rodents. Hire an exterminator! And who would want to drive a car that has been deemed "unsafe" to drive anyway?

My Review of Hansel Honda:
After agreeing to purchase a new Honda Accord Hybrid V6, the saleman at Hansel Honda in Petaluma, California ushered me into a room with another saleman, who proceeed then to high-pressure me into purchasing their "extended warranty." Despite my initial misgivings, I finally agreed to buy the warranty after the salisman said, "This is a great warranty - it will cover all mechanical repairs to the car, without exception. If anything goes wrong, anything at all, you just bring the car in, and we fix it, that's that."

About a month later, my power steering went out. When I brought the car back to Hansel Honda for repairs, I was told that the repair would not be covered by the extended warranty because a rodent had chewed through the wiring, and since this was not considered a defect, but an "outside event" (in the words of the service advisor), I would have to pay as much as $2,000 in repair costs myself! NO PART of the repair work would be covered by any warranty, initial or extended.

I explained that the the extended warranty (as represented to me by their saleman) was supposed to cover all mechanical repairs without exception. The response of the service advisor was simply, no, Honda would not honor the warranty, tough luck for me. Furthermore, the car was now "unsafe to drive in its present condition so these repairs were required." (Words of the Service Advisor again.)

PLEASE, everybody, steer clear of Honda's extended warranty. DO NOT let a salesman high-pressure you into purchasing it, and avoid doing business with Hansel Honda in Petaluma. FRANKLY, THEY ARE LIARS. IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THAT. Thank you for letting me vent, and feel free to distribute this email to everyone you know, especially those who are interested in buying a new car, and especially anyone who is considering the purchase of a Honda.

They defrauded me - don't let them defraud you.

The extended warranty added six extra months of payments to the car (at nearly $500 a month), and after only one month of driving, I now find myself forced to pay significant additional money to return the car to a drivable state.

I am out as much as $2,000 in repair costs plus the extra payments I must make to cover the price of an expensive extended "warranty," which I now find is essentially worthless.

I feel I have been defrauded by Hansel Honda in Petaluma, California.

My Review of Hansel Honda:
at first it was a good experience then 3 days later I get a call and my financing didnt go through. we were mislead on sunday to believe we already had financing. we initially had $1500. to put down later he came back and said "THE BANK needs you to put $2500. down" I actually upgraded my insurance in the office on skyes computer because I only had liability insurance on the vehicle we came in. had we known that we didnt have a lender we wouldnt have wasted our time on a nice sunday afternoon. the only person i talked to after that was nice to us is lynne pedsta, she was so considerate and compassionate. she helped make me feel better. I know my credit is bad due to a very nasty divorce but it doesnt mean i am a bad person. i make a decent amount of money and was actually willing to pay the god awful apr of 21% interest you tacked on to get my credit on the positve. i do have a very qualified cosigner but will take my business somewhere else along with my bitterness towards HANSE HONDA!!
