My Review of Hansel Honda:
After agreeing to purchase a new Honda Accord Hybrid V6, the saleman at Hansel Honda in Petaluma, California ushered me into a room with another saleman, who proceeed then to high-pressure me into purchasing their "extended warranty." Despite my initial misgivings, I finally agreed to buy the warranty after the salisman said, "This is a great warranty - it will cover all mechanical repairs to the car, without exception. If anything goes wrong, anything at all, you just bring the car in, and we fix it, that's that."
About a month later, my power steering went out. When I brought the car back to Hansel Honda for repairs, I was told that the repair would not be covered by the extended warranty because a rodent had chewed through the wiring, and since this was not considered a defect, but an "outside event" (in the words of the service advisor), I would have to pay as much as $2,000 in repair costs myself! NO PART of the repair work would be covered by any warranty, initial or extended.
I explained that the the extended warranty (as represented to me by their saleman) was supposed to cover all mechanical repairs without exception. The response of the service advisor was simply, no, Honda would not honor the warranty, tough luck for me. Furthermore, the car was now "unsafe to drive in its present condition so these repairs were required." (Words of the Service Advisor again.)
PLEASE, everybody, steer clear of Honda's extended warranty. DO NOT let a salesman high-pressure you into purchasing it, and avoid doing business with Hansel Honda in Petaluma. FRANKLY, THEY ARE LIARS. IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THAT. Thank you for letting me vent, and feel free to distribute this email to everyone you know, especially those who are interested in buying a new car, and especially anyone who is considering the purchase of a Honda.
They defrauded me - don't let them defraud you.
The extended warranty added six extra months of payments to the car (at nearly $500 a month), and after only one month of driving, I now find myself forced to pay significant additional money to return the car to a drivable state.
I am out as much as $2,000 in repair costs plus the extra payments I must make to cover the price of an expensive extended "warranty," which I now find is essentially worthless.
I feel I have been defrauded by Hansel Honda in Petaluma, California.
