I have always had a mindset that you could not trust a car salesman. I have now found the exception to the rule. Mike was friendly, helpful, not pushy and came across as very genuine and not slick. He really did his best to make the whole buying process seamless, expedient and efficient. From start to finish I felt like my needs and not just the dealerships needs were being met. I am aware that the salesmen need to do their best to make money for the dealership and for their own commission but at no time did I feel that I was being left out of the equation. I would highly recommend Herb Chambers Toyota and Mike Hilliard in particular for a pleasant buying experience. As a footnote, the follow-up has been exceptional. He didn't just leave us hanging after the purchase, he has made numerous calls since to be sure we are happy, to arrange a return for sticker and registration and again to set up the Lo-Jack installation. I have been involved with approximately 15 vehicle purchasing experiences (children and spouse and myself) over the years and this was the best experience BY FAR! Thank you Mike and Herb Chambers. Michael Lydon did an excellent job in every respect. His pleasant personality made us feel comfortable with him from the start. My experience at this dealership has been good so far. The sales staff tries to be as accomodating and responsive as possible. FALSE INTERNET ADVERTISING!!! I called to ensure that a car advertised on the internet was still available. I gave them the exact stock number listed in the ad. I arrived at Herb Chambers 30 minutes later, asked for the same person, I cannot now recall his name, but after about 10 minutes he came out to shake my hand and tell me that a sales person will further assist me. I showed him the printout of the ad and asked if I could see the car. He skirted the question and asked me to his desk for some "information" meanwhile engaging in small talk. Not having had my question answered the first time I asked him again about the car and if it was still available. He replied, "no." I pointed out that only 30 minutes prior it was, stood up and walked out. Once someone lies to me once, I refuse to do any business with them. Now a week later, they are STILL advertising the car on the internet eventhough it is long gone!!! This was actually the second bad experience I've had at HERB Chambers of Allston/Boston, the first being 5 years ago when they so low balled my trade in, it was laughable. I ended up getting a great deal on the trade and certified car at IRA Danvers. Both times I came in as a single young female and they probably thought of me as an easy target. Too bad for them I'm not as dumb as I look. Would NOT recommend this dealer unless you are a very savvy negotiator, do your research, and read every last word of everything you sign - that is if you're lucky enough to still find the car they promised to have. More
