It’s honestly disheartening that in this day and age, a person with disabilities still has to look the part just to be taken seriously. That’s exactly how I was made to feel at Hyundai of Clermont. When person with disabilities still has to look the part just to be taken seriously. That’s exactly how I was made to feel at Hyundai of Clermont. When I visited the dealership and asked to see a Hyundai Venue, the salesperson pointed to the back of the lot and said I’d have to walk over there myself — in the rain, no less. I explained that I have mobility issues and use a cane, and walking long distances is a challenge for me. His response? “Are you seriously handicapped?” That level of insensitivity was not only offensive, it was outright discriminatory. Unless you’re visibly falling apart or waving a giant disability flag on your head, you don’t get basic respect or assistance. Just because I can appear to move around doesn’t mean I’m not in pain or struggling — and that’s precisely the kind of narrow-minded ignorance that makes life harder for disabled individuals. Hyundai of Clermont failed not just in customer service, but in human decency. I left feeling humiliated and dismissed, like I was an inconvenience rather than a customer. To anyone with mobility challenges: save yourself the frustration — this place isn’t worth your time. More
