No meaningful assistance has been offered—no repair coverage, no reimbursement, no resolution. In April 2025, my 23-year-old daughter purchased a 2018 BMW X1 from Jaguar Land Rover Fort Lauderdale (an AutoNation dealership) as her first car. The vehicle was sold as Certified Pre-Owned and represented as reliable. Within five months, the electronic steering system failed completely, making the car undrivable. Had this happened on the freeway at speed, the consequences could have been catastrophic. Jaguar Land Rover confirmed the steering repair cost at $6,400. The car is now at their affiliated BMW service center, where technicians diagnosed imminent engine mount failure adding $2,500, for a total of $8,900 in repairs on a $15,000 vehicle. BMW advisors have indicated escalating issues, describing it as not worth repairing. The Carfax report shows a 2021 front-end accident with functional damage that was not disclosed. For over three months, my daughter has been without transportation, incurring more than $2,000 in Uber and Lyft costs for safe commuting to her night-shift job. These rideshare expenses have eaten a significant portion of her salary, making it difficult for her to cover rent and basic living costs as a young adult starting out. Despite multiple written demands since October 2025 and the dealership having possession of the vehicle, their responses have offered no meaningful remediation—no repair coverage, no reimbursement, and no resolution.
