The dealership attempted to charge me twelve times the reasonable value of the work performed. Specifically, they sought to charge an excessive amount for removing the dashboard trim on a Nissan Rogue—an reasonable value of the work performed. Specifically, they sought to charge an excessive amount for removing the dashboard trim on a Nissan Rogue—an operation that takes approximately two minutes to complete. Furthermore, the multimedia unit can be removed from the same panel in less than thirty seconds. The original agreement was based on an hourly labor rate of $200. Applying that rate fairly, the actual value of this operation would be approximately $15–20 at most. When I attempted to discuss the matter and reach a reasonable resolution based on the actual time and labor involved, the manager declined to engage in a meaningful conversation. Instead, I was presented with an ultimatum: either pay $175 or no longer do business with the dealership. I questioned why a fair assessment could not be made using the agreed hourly rate and the actual time required to perform the work. I also expressed concern that the demand appeared unreasonable and disproportionate to the services rendered. My request for clarification and justification received no response. To date, the dealership has not provided any explanation supporting the amount demanded, nor has it addressed my concerns regarding the fairness of the charge. More
