I brought my Ridgeline in because ever since the truck was brand new, the brakes have felt "soft" . I was told by Tower Honda in Longview when I took the truck in for it's first oil change that the soft brakes were normal. I've kinda learned to live with it, but lately have noticed a little shuttering when I apply the brakes. I brought it in last week because my warranty period is about to expire and I wanted to get any problems fixed before then. I was told after the techs checked things over that the softness was normal but that the rotors were warped and Honda would not cover this under warranty. I was told that Honda blames the warped rotors on the way I drive the truck, so the warranty won't cover it. That's a load of crap. I've been driving for 45+ years and at least 20 different vehicles over that period and have NEVER had a problem with warped rotors. I personally think that the softness of the brakes has more to do with the rotors warping, because you have to brake harder to get the brakes to engage. It's an insult to blame customers driving habits on an obvious design issue. My wife and I are considering upgrading her CRV to something a little larger and were considering a Pilot, but if the brakes are going to behave like the Ridgeline (since they're built on the same platform) we WILL NOT buy a Pilot. I appreciate Loving Honda's Service Manager working with me on this, but Honda needs to stand behind their product and not blame customers for driving habits or driving through water when the rotors are hot More
