My Review of Martens Volkswagen:
Martens VW Service are just a bunch of THIEVES....plain and simple. The average rating on this forum is a lot more generous than they deserve. Take you VW to Martens for service ONLY if you have $$$$ to flush down the drain. If (for some reason) you HAVE TO take your VW to them for service find out how much it would cost for exactly the same procedure from another mechanic and then get the service done only if they match the price. I have found them to charge 3 to 4 times more than similar options for similar or less quality and very poor customer service. BOTTOM LINE - WATCH OUT when you deal with them.

My Review of Martens Volkswagen:
AVOID Martens VW.
They try to rip you off at every opportunity.
They provided only a partial cost estimate and leave out the really expensive stuff till they have your car. Then they conjure up repairs for parts that always take more than 4 HOURS of labor. So BEWARE.
The customer service is horrible and they dont give a damn.
Most other non-dealer services in the vicinity are MUCH better.

My Review of Martens Volkswagen:
Absolutely horrible, rude and incompetent. After lying to me and my husband about what the car needed, how long it would take, Anthony lied to my husband about calling me and telling me the car was ready. They agreed to take the price of a rental car off the total for the days we were without a car as a result of their lie, but I would NEVER go back there again and I would dissuade anyone from going there.

My Review of Martens Volkswagen:
I have a Passat wagon that is just over 1 year old. I have had problems from the beginning with the car and these problems were compounded by my dealings with the service center. on my last visit to have my oil changes, my spare key (valet key) was stolen from my key ring. Obviously I should have only givent them a single key but hidsight is 20-20!

I would advise people to steer clear of both the dealership and the service center!

My Review of Martens Volkswagen:
Customer services at the Martens service center is probably the worst I have encountered. Customers are not greeted or acknowledged at all. The three times that I have taken my car in for service I have ran into the same incompetent people at the reception desks. They are not professional, not frienldly and worst of all do not seem to be technically skilled. They seem to be more concerned about getting rid of you than trying to understand what your car's problem is. I would seriously suggest Martens revisits its costumer service practices.

My Review of Martens Volkswagen:
Awful service department. It seems the place is run by a bunch of kids who either don't know what they're doing or have been told by their superiors to do all they can to cheat the customer out of his/her money. My car's transmission died at just 5,000 miles and they refused to repair, claiming the car was making odd noises because it was still "breaking in". Took it to another dealer in the area and was fixed right away.

My Review of Martens Volkswagen:
I came home from a business trip to discover a pool of water on the floor of my passanger seat. Could not get an appointment to fix the problem for a week (in which the seat flooded several more times due to thunderstorms). When i took the car to get fixed the "service advisor" was poor at best in contacting me with the status of my repair. Additionally, the "free loaner" car service was not available because it was not "regularly scheduled maintenance" although this policy is NO WHERE on their website. When i picked up my car it had not been detailed as agreed and I had to take the car back the next day.

While the customer service is TERRIBLE and UNORGANIZED, the service itself was good. The oil change was actually cheaper than going to jiffy lube, and the detail job on my car was great.

My Review of Martens Volkswagen:
Bought 2002 Passat from Martens. Car is great and sales experience was excelent, but service is not.

Difficult to get an appointment for regular maintenance (2-week wait time has been the norm in my experience).

Work is satisfactory. My sole minor complaint is that they have been unable to fix the source of groans in the driver seat.

My main issue with the Martens service dpt is the cost of service. (i) The service writer attempted to charge me for the single warranty repair I needed -- a broken power mirror knob, a monts after I bought the car. Politely telling him that such a problem was clearly warranty work got the desired effect (they took it off the bill), but I should not have had to ask. (ii) For my 20k service last year, their bill turned out to be close to $100 more than other dealerships in the DC area (I should have compared quotes beforehand, but did not; after the shock of a getting such a high bill, I then gave a few phone calls and discovered my mistake...)

Bottom line: recently switched to VW Sprinfield, where workmanship is good, scheduling is not a problem, and prices are (slightly) more reasonable.
