So my clutch went out on my 2006 Scion xB which had 75K miles on it at the time (just past the warranty). The nearest Toyota Dealership happened to be in Elmhurst and since my car would not accelerate past miles on it at the time (just past the warranty). The nearest Toyota Dealership happened to be in Elmhurst and since my car would not accelerate past 20mph, that's where I had to take it to. They seemed like they were in NO hurry at all to get my car in and checked out. They also refused to give me a loaner car which EVERY other Toyota dealership that I've ever been to (from downstate IL to FL) has done for me without question! I was told to "go rent a car." It was determined that the clutch had gone out and it would be $1500.00 to replace it. I did some price-checking and found the clutch that they quoted me for at $400 actually cost them $148.00 to purchase. I was outraged and decided to try to find a better clutch if I was going to spend $400 on a part that was really only worth $148. I found one in a catalog; called the manufacturer to ask which clutch would be appropriate for my car; I then faxed the specs of the part to TOYOTA of Elmhurst so that they could double-check that the clutch would be appropriate. They said yes. When we received shipping confirmation that the part had arrived at the dealership, we called again and asked them to inspect the part to determine whether or not it was appropriate for the car. They said yes. They put the clutch on. THIRTY DAYS LATER - the clutch blew up my transmission...literally, a rod from the clutch went through the transmission completely ruining it! This time, it was towed to Toyota of Naperville because that was the closest dealership to the location that my car broke down. They told me that the clutch was not compatible with my transmission and at first glance, any Toyota mechanic should have known that. Further, our contact at Toyota of Naperville's service department told me that you can bolt any clutch to a transmission but that doesn't mean it's compatible. A 2nd new clutch, a new transmission and $3500.00, my car is fixed. JOY! I've been calling Toyota of Elmhurst to find out who to lodge a complaint with and was given the contact information for Jim the Sales Manager. After playing phone-tag for over a week and getting nowhere, I resorted to posting on here and what do you know - finally got their attention. Shortly after posting my first entry, I received a message from Dan Briggs, Service Manager. *****Please understand, I was trying to find a more reliable clutch (seeing as how my original Toyota clutch lasted only around 75k miles). But throughout my efforts, I made every attempt to be forthright with Toyota so that they could ADVISE me of the best way to repair my car. This is why I take my car to the Toyota dealerships; I expect that they are trained EXPERTS in their products and subsequently what parts (after-market or otherwise) are compatible with these products...ESPECIALLY when I go so far as to send them the specs before it's even ordered!!!!! They did not follow through with due dilligence - and I paid for it.********** Perhaps the most disappointing thing in this entire fiasco was dealing with Mr. Briggs. I found him to be rude, condescending and adversarial. It's a real shame that he's the Service Manager and yet has no customer relations accumen whatsoever. He was never interested in customer service or offering any help whatsoever...he simply shirked off all responsibility that his service team had in this situation. Nor did he sound the least bit empathetic or understanding throughout the entire ordeal. I think that Toyota has the duty to at least attempt to make this situation right. I'm not even talking about full reimbursement for cost of repairs here. I've already paid it but they are seriously about to lose the customer loyalty of two young, business professionals who will undoubtedly purchase many cars throughout their lives. Our friends and family are aware of this ordeal as well. I will never buy or service at Toyota ever again. I will also remind every single person I know who ever thinks or wonders about buying a Toyota that they can think again!! Their cars are just like every other car on the road - doomed to fail again and again at the expense of the owners. Toyota cars last no longer or have no fewer problems than a Ford or GMC. I suppose I learned my lesson. Hopefully, others won't have to learn the hard way as well. And NEVER go to Toyota of Elmhurst. I wouldn't take a car there for water if it was on fire. More
The customer service, sales team and owner at this dealership gave us individual service, answered every question we had and were proactive on questions we hadn't even thought about. They were friendl dealership gave us individual service, answered every question we had and were proactive on questions we hadn't even thought about. They were friendly and knowledgeable. We got a very good deal. They allowed both of us to test drive the vehicle separately and showed us how it compared to the 10 year old Camry we were already driving. We've bought cars from Elmhurst Toyota in the past and have always been satisfied with the service department. We recommended this dealership to family members who also bought cars from them and have been very satisfied. More

I initially bought a new 2003 Toyota Matrix XRS and the experience was fantastic. I purchased the car in January of 2003 with a great price and overall satisfied with the customer service I recieved. Aft experience was fantastic. I purchased the car in January of 2003 with a great price and overall satisfied with the customer service I recieved. After the purchase, I continued to have the dealership service the Matrix for everything. I needed another vehicle and decided to trade in the Matrix for a used Camry. When I returned to the dealership to inquire, there was very little hassle because all records were at the dealership regarding service and repair to the Matrix allowing them to give me a better $ amount on trade. Thanks to Elmhurst Toyota, I am still a satisfied customer that feels valued and will recommend them to everyone who is in the market for a new and used vehicle. THANK YOU! More
My wife and I have dealt with Mike, Jim and Steve before they went to their current dealership, Elmhurst Toyota. We have bought a number of cars from them for over twenty years. We have since moved to Huntl they went to their current dealership, Elmhurst Toyota. We have bought a number of cars from them for over twenty years. We have since moved to Huntley, IL and went past probably 5 Toyota dealers alone to see these men when it came time to purchase. We came there looking for a Highlander, but we were persuaded to consider looking at a new VENZA, which I had not heard of before. My wife and I both LOVED the car (and the service). We brought our checkbook and title with us and drove home with a better vehicle (our VENZA) than we had anticipated. More
We bought a new Prius at this dealership. We did not haggle or ask questions. It took over four hours to buy this car. There were no other customers in the dealership and all the salesman were just st haggle or ask questions. It took over four hours to buy this car. There were no other customers in the dealership and all the salesman were just standing around talking. We did not attempt to haggle over the price of anything. Our salesman was very rude - he would come ask us a question, disappear for twenty minutes or half-an-hour and then come back with another question. What was he doing? We were not given a good price or a good offer on our trade-in. We had to check the internet for financing options in order to get a decent interest rate - they were trying to get us to go for one almost 2% higher. We only bought the car there because there were no other Prius available in our local area at that time. Do not buy a car from these time-wasters. I will never return to Elmhurst Toyota. More
We would absolutely recommend Elmhurst Toyota to anyone looking to purchase a car in the Chicago area. We spent weeks going to different Toyota dealerships across the city test driving and price checking c looking to purchase a car in the Chicago area. We spent weeks going to different Toyota dealerships across the city test driving and price checking cars. Everyone told us a different story about the cars, not the prices, but the cars!! The were pushy and aggressive. Not at Elmhurst!! We were immediately greeted and were shown around. All of our questions were answered honestly and there was absolutely no pushy sales tactic just sincere information. It was so refreshing compared to our previous experience. The staff spent a great deal of time with us and doing research on our behalf. They looked up so much information and made calls to other dealerships to find the color we wanted before we even committed to buying a car. They just went so far above and beyond in terms of customer service. We ended up buying a car on the spot. We were given an amazing deal on both our trade in and on the price of our new car. They really worked hard to get us to the number we could afford with no haggling or frustration. Bottom line, if you want to avoid all the hassle of buying a new car - GO TO ELMHURST TOYOTA!!! They will take care of you. More
1st they talked me out of having the car checked out (a 2000 VW) saying I'd be "throwing my money away" because they already thoroughly checked it out & fixed anything minor. He said if anything major was 2000 VW) saying I'd be "throwing my money away" because they already thoroughly checked it out & fixed anything minor. He said if anything major was wrong they wouldn't sell it on the lot, but put it up for auction because their reputation was "too important." There was a very strong flowery smell & I was told it was from the detailing. A week later, as it wore off and my asthma worsened, I found it was masking a strong gas fume inside the car. I called the manager (who had sent me a thank you saying "his door was always open") and he didn't return any of several messages. I finally got a different mgr who told me to bring it in. After several hours I was told that there was a minor tear in the gas hose which they missed initially because they could only see it with infrared. And even though I'd complained about the strong flowery smell masking the scent, when I got in to drive back home, AGAIN there was a strong flowery smell! And again, several days later, I could tell it had masked gas fumes. I took it elsewhere and they found, in less than an hour & without any infrared, a badly torn, almost shredded gas hose! They said not only was it bad for my breathing, but I was just lucky there hadn't been a fire. So 2x they let me drive away in a dangerous car with an engine saturated in gasoline! My mechanic also found that the plastic oil dipstick holder had been broken &d taped in 2 places. So much for fixing anything minor. AND it turns out it had never had a major tune up and needed new front brakes! A few months later, the oil light came on. I took it to another mechanic who said there must be a leak because there were only 1.5 quarts of oil in it. But my 1st mechanic sprayed it with ultraviolet spray and had me drive for a week and return. Once under the light, he could see that there was no oil leak. This means the oil change sticker they placed on the windshield was yet another lie. More
I have my oil change at Elmhurst Toyota the last two times when they informed me that I am missing an oil baffle for the valve cover on the last visist and wanted to do the repair. When I ask them what times when they informed me that I am missing an oil baffle for the valve cover on the last visist and wanted to do the repair. When I ask them what happened to the oil baffle since I had it serviced last at Elmhurst Toyota and there was no mention of the missing baffle then, Mr. Daniel Briggs told me that there is no need for repair. I am missing something here. More
