Service I have bought many cars from lots of different dealerships but they Day I bought my first car from Northstar was the day I never shopped around again. I have been treated so good by everyone who works there but I have to say the main reason I'll never buy anywhere else is because of how well the service department has taken care of me. The service manager calmed me down when my brand new camaro got hit and assured me they would fix it like new and that is exactly what they did. This is not my first car I have taken to them and each time they have gone above and beyond to take care of me. I don't think the owner knows just what an amazing group of employees they have but but thanks to the service manager and crew I am a forever customer. More

Quoted price was not the finished price..a $300 diff I started having gear change problems n our 7 year old E2500 express van. They told me "there were parts in the bottom of the pan preventing the dip stick from reaching the bottom so they couldn't even get a good reading of whether it was low or not. " It was also given them "trouble" readings when they connected up with the computer so it was their advise to change it out". The part about the dip stick surprised me because it wasn't grinding gears or slipping from missing teeth but, so-be-it. I knew something serious was up and I couldn't take the chance of being stuck on the road. I received a $3,300 written, quoted price to replace the transmission. I got competitive prices from other dealers in the area and they were all about the same +/- $50. I went with Northstar because they were the only dealer to mention a $200 rebate. Nice! I'd like to say that I'm completely happy with the job since they got it done fairly quick and it is driving fine now but, they forgot to check the transmission fluid in the new part. Luckily, I requested a test drive with the service rep and it was doing exactky the same hard gear shift that it was oing when I brought it in. He had the tech come out to check it. It was 2 full quarts down and the transmission was running dry and slamming into gear. The tech said " did you change out your dip stick"? I said no. He said, "it's too long! It bottoms out before the stick is all the way in". Really!? I guess there never were any "parts on the bottom of the pan" in the first place. It left me thinking, was I just low on fluid and didn't need the new tranny? It was done and since I take very good care of this van, I let it go. How could I prove anything at that point and it did have 125k miles on it. The final price was $300 higher than the quoted price...what was the difference, you ask?! Nuts, bolts and transmission fluid to flush the lines. For $300! Did someone not remember that the exhaust pipe needed to be removed to get the tranny out!? Even I know that you can never get 8 year old exhaust bolts off of an exhaust without having to cut them. Further, why WOULDN'T they flush the lines and include that cost with the replacement, that is standard practice...unless you're looking for a markup somewhere..anywhere! Like I said, it has enough fluid in it now and is driving fine. If you plan on getting any major work done, look elsewhere. More

absolutely horrible experience. DO NOT trust Northstar chevrolet. When i bought my car in 2013 i was signed up for the free tire program and was told i would get free tires if i got DO NOT trust Northstar chevrolet. When i bought my car in 2013 i was signed up for the free tire program and was told i would get free tires if i got all my service done at northstar. Well apparently the service department declining my front end alignment for me voided this program so now i will not be receiving my tires. I live in Massachusetts and come to clifton park to get a 50 dollar oil change that takes 4 hours, why would i decline this service? They are a bunch of scam artists. I wouldn't recommend Northstar to anyone. This is the worst experience I've ever had. More

They told me it would be one hour but I waited more than two and while I was waiting I was talking with other people in the waiting room and there was a family stuck there for more than 5 hours and a few kind folks from our military waiting for their van to get an oil change for 2 hours and they were only there because that's where they have to take their military vehicles...but at least the mechanics in the back sounded like they were having fun as we all heard them loudly joking and goofing off. But here's the WORST part! When I got my car back my right mirror was loose and almost broken and I wasn't happy about that because it was fine before I went in! I confronted the head mechanic about it and he was offended I'd accuse him or his guys of such a thing and somehow I became the bad guy??? Homer this is very surprising to me because I also visited the dealership at the same time and I also had a trailblazer which was getting a safety rec Homer this is very surprising to me because I also visited the dealership at the same time and I also had a trailblazer which was getting a safety recall at the end of December. rather than fixing the issue the first time, they actually did nothing at all but "reglued" the switch to my knowledge. Then my heated seats suddenly stopped working. On second appointment, they were all convinced the seat element was completely melted. when I tried to argue with them they actually escorted me out of the building and I had to yell to get my keys back. it was only after this when I got in the vehicle that I discovered they actually did replace the switch this time in and my heated seats magically worked again. even tried to get me to come back because I was across the street with the vehicle and luckily I didn't because they actually called the State Troopers. in other words they tried to charge GM for something he didn't do and actually managed to break something and wanted me to pay $300 to fix it and when I tried to argue with them they didn't want to hear it but instead tried to bully me out of the building. This is one dealership that should have been closed when GM went bankrupt because they are the part of the reason why they went bankrupt in the first place. Unfortunately for them my dozens of phone calls to GM ensured that they did not get their payment for the recall as I still was not convinced they completed it properly. DON'T GO HERE! First repair, they tried to sell me a repair on an unrelated item even after I told them to perform the repair only and not perform any other checks or evaluations. Offered to fix it for $130 and I declined. (Took the car subsequently to my regular mechanic and he said the repair was not necessary.) Second recall went OK. On 3rd recall, I called to make sure parts were available and made an appointment. Dropped car off and got a call back several hours later in the day saying the part was not in stock, and asked if I had made an appointment or just dropped off the car. Now I have to wait for a part again and tie up my car yet another day (that will make 4 days total by the time all recalls are fixed.) Very poor service. More

Where to begin? I purchased my car here a little over two years ago. It had roughly 7,000 miles on it when I decided I wanted to buy it. They ran the numbers while I was working and called me back letting me know I got the car. How exciting! Two days pass, I go and pick up my new car, only to find that an additional 2,000 miles were added to the car before I got it? That's weird? Anyways, I bought it certified pre-owned as well as having bought an ADDITIONAL EXTENDED WARRANTY. All of which was discussed while signing the paper work. "Oh you will be covered for the next 5 years Bumper to Bumper" blah blah blah. Turns out my pre-owned warranty expired two years later and that my additional warranty that I purchased is set to run out soon. This can't be? I was told that I would be covered for the entire time I made payments on my car, which would be 5 years, not 2. This shop has been the MOST INCOMPETENT and downright RUDE shop I have ever had the displeasure to run across. I have had NUMEROUS issues with the service department, which is lazy and clearly does not have a single clue what they are doing. First major issue with the service department: I take my vehicle in for a routine inspection and a brake job. No big deal right? WRONG! I drop the vehicle off at 8 a.m. and tell them I would need it back by noon for work. I hear NOTHING from them up until I decide to call at 2 p.m. Oh they were backed up and didn't get to it. Fine, whatever, another couple of hours roll by, no word. Call again and inquire about my vehicle. They STILL haven't even looked at it. I politely explain to them that I need my vehicle back, that they have had it for nearly 8 hours. Their response? "Oh well if you need it just come get it and reschedule" Are you kidding me? You take my car for a routine service and inspection, have it for the past 8 hours and then tell me to reschedule? ABSURD! Next major issue: The NEXT DAY I am driving the 5 miles home from work when my brakes feel very off. I call and explain to them, reschedule the appointment. Sit in the waiting room for hours only for them to tell me there is nothing wrong with the brakes whatsoever. I continue driving it for another week or so, the brakes still feel off. Next thing I know, I pull up to my house only to find my brakes SMOKING! Call and AGAIN make ANOTHER appointment bring it back for the SAME issue. They look at it and come back to me, "Oh our mechanic forgot to clean the brakes before he replaced them, and he also did not put the clips on correctly, our apologies" So what does that mean? Well they did not even look at my brakes the first time I brought it in, nor did the person who we are supposed to be trusting with our vehicles even about to do a simple brake job, let alone something major! Yet again another issue: My air conditioner begins to make a gurgling noise when you turn it off, as well as my seat making a "clicking noise" while driving. I call and fight my way into getting a service appointment. I drop the car off early in the morning. AN ENTIRE DAY GOES BY WITH NO WORD ON MY CAR WHATSOEVER. I finally hear around 2 p.m. the next day that I am pretty much hearing things when it comes to the seat (which was not the case) and that the air conditioning noise was a "malibu quirk" ... Yes, that's what they told me! "Our mechanic has the same model as you and his air conditioner makes that same noise. It's just something malice's do" Well guys, seeing as how that a load of crap that you are trying to feed me and seeing as how when I purchased the car it did not have this "quirk" I would like it fixed. I tell them to keep looking at the seat because I can feel it moving slightly as I am driving it. They call me immediately back (how convenient) "Oh what luck! We found the problem! It wasn't an umbrella rolling around in the trunk like we thought. It's actually a plastic backing on the seat. We have to order the part for it and since we are such nice guys, we will cover the cost of the seat for you. When you reschedule another appointment we will fix that." No word about my air conditioning problem again. I finally make another appointment after the part has come in and explain that I would also like the air conditioner to be fixed as well. Wait in the waiting room. I get a call from them, yes, they didn't even have the consideration to come to me in person to tell me the status of my car, and they say that they finally figured out the "quirk in all malibus" and that it was the A.C. actuator, but conveniently my pre-owned warranty has expired and my extended warranty has a 100 dollar deductible (WHICH WAS NOT EXPLAINED WHEN I SPENT THE EXTRA MONEY ON THE WARRANTY: SEE FIRST PARAGRAPH). So in short, if you see a car you want from there. RUN! More
