I was glad that when I scheduled an online test drive that I received a phone call to confirm very quickly and when I arrived the car to test drive was ready to go. I didn't like that particular car, however, enter Thomas Donahue to the rescue. To be honest, we, more me than my wife, wore Thomas thin. I asked him a million questions, test drove half a dozen vehicles and spent the better half of a day sitting in multiple cars trying to make a decision. I am analytical by nature and really enjoyed the casual approach to selling employed by Thomas and VW Highland Park. Thomas was engaging without pressuring and gave us time to talk without lingering awkwardly nearby like desperate salesman do. He gave us space but was always available to run to get another set of keys or a dealer license plate when I changed my mind again. Once I FINALLY made a decision, the negotiation was straighforward and without shark tactics. We were offered a fair amount for our trade and the vehicle was priced competitively enough that there wasn't much back and forth necessary. The meeting with the finance guy was so short lived, that I never caught his name. Again, no high pressure sales offers or fuzzy math. Once all the paperwork ran it's course, Thomas called me and scheduled a vehicle delivery. During vehicle delivery he spent a long while going over the features and functions of my new vehicle. I had questions, as usual, and he was thorough and informative. Clearly, he knows these cars. I never felt like I was wasting his time or inconviencing him. He wasn't going to let me drive off the lot until I was 100% satisfied. I left with the car yesterday and could not be more satisfied. Overall my car buying experience at VW Highland Park was as good as one could want. I feel like I established a connection with the staff there, particularly Thomas. If I have any issues, I am completely confident I will receive commensurate attention. We already have plans to purchase another vehicle and VW of Highland Park has earned by business. More

After researching for a few months, I knew I would love to lease either a Subaru or a VW. Well, I live in Des Plaines and drove out to Highland Park specifically to see Randy Freeman. I have a family friend that had purchased a car from Randy and said to go see him. I was very happy because I found out I can look at a Subaru and a VW by visiting Randy. By speaking with him about my budget and what type of a car I was looking for, he suggested to test the Jetta S. My heart was set on an Impreza but was over my budget. As I test drove the Jetta, I fell in love with the German car. For the base model S, the car has many nice options that other companies’ base models do not come near the VW. Randy was very helpful and very penitent, he made me feel very comfortable and never pressured me to get a car on my first day there. For the first time in my life shopping at a car dealership I was not tempted to run out of there. So, I ended up leasing a VW Jetta S and I could not be any happier. I am looking forward to the end of my 3 year lease to get a car from Randy again. Thank you, More

Despite living less than a mil I have been looking for a used vehicle that met a couple of qualifications: excellent condition at a reasonable price. Despite living less than a mile away from another VW dealership, I considered driving over 40 minutes where a beautiful and well kept 2012, VW GTI was being sold. Upon arriving to the dealership, I was met by a really friendly and accommodating sales persons named Phillip Thomas, who was not only helpful at showing me what I was looking for, moreover, he was not overbearing or pushy in any way. Phillip discussed the car features, its history and other aspects involving the sale of the vehicle, which game the impression that he was well informed. Aside from knowing his products and job, speaking with Phillip gave me the reassurance that he was not just trying to sell me the vehicle, but rather he was attempting to help me. After deciding to take the vehicle, I was introduced to Keith, which my terrible memory has forgotten this gentleman's last name and I hope he can forgive me. Keith was very respectful and helpful too. He offered several finance alternatives and made everything possible for me to secure a great finance rate and terms that were agreeable with my income. I have been a VW customer since 2006, purchasing vehicles in Florida and Illinois and having them serviced in various other states. I have never been disappointed with the vehicles or service, in fact I have been always been very satisfied. The same is true this time, in fact this experience far exceeded my expectations!! I can't say when would it be the next time I'll purchase another vehicle, however, when that time comes I'll certainly consider this dealership over others, even over those closer to me. They communicate well what needs to be done, what they can do to make it easy for me. While a service customer for over 10 years I recently purchased a certified, pre-owned vehicle from them. Randy Freeman made the purchase a pleasure for me. He bent over backwards to find me the "perfect" car. We sorted through my priorities and found a great, low mileage, perfect condition car. He whisked me through the purchase and finance processes and the rest of the dealership was equally attentive and accommodating. Great experience with a great guy. If he keeps this up he may change the age-old reputation of car salesmen! Thanks to all of you at VW of Highland Park - the car is awesome! More

Randy and his team I was looking for a used car for my daughter for several months....I went into the dealer and met Randy. I told him my daughter would be back from co I was looking for a used car for my daughter for several months....I went into the dealer and met Randy. I told him my daughter would be back from college in June so there was not too much time pressure. Randy kept me updated for a few weeks until the right car turned up. I was a bit particular, wanting a safe car but knowing that living on a college campus would get banged up a bit. When we decided on a car, the entire dealership went above-and-beyond to make the experience good. In fact, the General Manager gave Randy permission to all the car to stay on the lot for as long as I needed. Randy was sincerely exceptional. More than just knowing about the design of the cars, he was able in "simple English" to discuss the features....and was very objective in how he spoke about the different models. I was relaxed around Randy in an industry where I normally walk in feeling stressed that I will be pressured. In dealing with Randy, I felt very comfortable! My plan now is that when my daughter comes home, I will take the keys and ask for at "test drive." I will let her drive it home to show her mother to see if she likes it. At that point, I'll say the dealer let us keep it for the weekend to make sure all is well. At some point I'll, just say, "just keep it.."..... Thanks for the experience...it's been great and I will do the same for my son in a short time!!! More

It was time to trade in my 15 year old Passat wagon for something new. I went to the Muller Volkswagen of Highland Park web site to see what was available as well as review the salesman testimonials. I really liked what the customers were saying about Tom Donahue. As Mike Muller has said "You will not be disappointed" and we were not. My wife and I met Tom on a Friday and found him to be a warm and personal type of guy. He helped us by answering all our questions that go with buying a new car. We picked out a Jetta Sportwagen that happened to be the only one with the color we wanted in the 4 state area. Tom said "no problem we'll do a dealer trade". As it turned out, Tom took it upon him self to drive to the other dealership to get our new car. It was detailed, checked over and washed and we picked it up Saturday Morning all in less than 24 hours. What kind of salesman would do that? We were impressed. More

I was going to buy a used VW Jetta TDI from this dealership. The sales person Maciej was nice. I did ask why the headilghts were fogged and he said it was normal for a 2011 VW to have that. I was going to buy the car, I was pretty nervous because it was a bigger purchase for me, but then the finance guy was a total jerk and was pretty rude, he was very rude actually. I ended up walking away from the deal due to the rude salesperson. I ended up buying the exact 2013 Jetta TDI Premium from Pugi VW in Downers Grove, IL instead. Much, much nicer staff. Anyways, I will never go back to that Highland Park VW again, ever. More
