On October 30, 2025, me and my husband purchased a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox from New Direct Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Wytheville, VA. The only issue disclosed was a minor tire sensor light.Within 24 hours, the vehicle malfunctioned—its speedometer and radio reset repeatedly, and by November 1, it shut off completely, showing a check engine light. Diagnostic scans revealed stored and permanent engine codes. When contacted, dealership staff denied prior problems and failed to provide the promised tow or loaner. On Monday GM Shawn contradicted earlier statements, admitting the vehicle had previously been serviced for a check engine light—information not disclosed at sale. A Carfax report confirmed the dealership had performed diagnostic on powertrain on 10/6/25, indicating prior known issues. During a recorded meeting, Shawn was reportedly rude, dismissive, and intimidating, admitting prior service. Other employees hung up on me and refused managerial contact. Financially, we and my husband suffered significant loss. Our 2021 Ford Explorer trade-in, valued at $24,900, was not returned when they tried to undo the deal. The dealership falsely claimed it was sold, then coerced them into repurchasing it for about $33,000, including $2,500 down, $5,000 added price, and $3,000 for a pressured extended warranty. The complaint alleges fraudulent misrepresentation, deceptive trade practices, and coercive conduct. More
