Had a great experience trading my vehicle in and getting a top dollar trade in value. They sold me exactly what I wanted and never tried talking me into something more expensive. The salesman Riley was vey prompt and helpful, however there were several misrepresentations with the vehicles advertising, and subsequent service needs that were apparently present before I looked at it there were several misrepresentations with the vehicles advertising, and subsequent service needs that were apparently present before I looked at it and hidden. There was no attempt by the dealership to financially compensate for the marketing misrepresentation, or the pre-existing conditions found after the purchase. A fair amount of haggling to get the price down closer to the actual blue book base model seemed unnecessary when there had been a several thousand dollar "marketing error." The vehicle was listed and priced as a Platinum model, when it actually was a base model SR5. There was hail damage and rust on the roof, a broken windshield, and a pre-existing check engine code that was not fixed before the sale, but was known by the dealership... fortunately I knew someone else who had already looked at the truck and found the issues, with other issues divulged by their salesperson at that time - but not to me. The person who previously looked at the truck found that it was in the shop being repaired - but then when they came back to look at it a second time and buy it, they found that the code had just been cleared (origin not fixed), windshield still broken, and roof damage still present, but new wheels and big tires that rubbed had been installed. They chose to walk away from the sale. When I test drove the truck I noted that the fuel level was low (5mi remaining - a trick to keep that engine/emissions code from reappearing), the windshield was broken, tires rubbed, and it was a base model. The price was seemingly not negotiable due to the model being a lower value, however the windshield was promised - no mention of rust or hail damage, or existing engine code was made. After purchasing the truck two days later and driving it home, the check engine light came on. I reported that to Riley who said they would take care of it if I bring it back in. I stopped by a few days later, and another salesman scanned the code which said purge valve, but said it needed a gas cap. He cleared the code and sent me away. The check engine light came immediately back on in 20 minutes, so I let Riley know, and came back and he kindly arranged a loaner for me, and I dropped it off. My knowledge from a friend who is a Toyota mechanic said it was likely a purge valve, as the scanner said - which is a part they keep in stock at Toyota and took 5 minutes to change. I expected an update relatively quickly, but I did not hear from the service dept a single time for an additional 3 days, and only after I called for an update. I finally had a conversation with Hayden in service where I was told they had not gotten a part or done it yet because all their techs were hunting. I said I would have gotten the part from Toyota and done it myself had there been some communication because 3 days for a part like this was ridiculous, whether or not I had a loaner. And to find out after the fact that this code had existed before I purchased it was very frustrating. I was very appreciative for the loaner and Riley's communication, but the dishonesty, lack of communication from service, and inability to be up front about the rust/hail damage and code is truly poor integrity. I will definitely continue the trucks service at Toyota in the future. More
