As I was leaving I commented on the large price increase for a LOF service but was in a hurry to leave for another appointment in Maryland, so I didn’t dig into the details until yesterday. My issue is the apparent huge markup, part quantity loading and admin cost burdening between my last LOF service at Matt Slapp in late Aug 2023 and a LOF at Ourisman Tri-State on April 24, 2024. Labor cost was actually a bit less at $45.99 vs $48.95 but the parts costs were exorbitant making the Aug23 LOF cost go from $92.57 to $146.74 (+$54.17) for last week. Below I show the current parts cost from an online Subaru OEM site (so we know Ourisman gets the parts for less); the Aug 23 cost under Matt Slap with what I consider an acceptable dealer markup and the current Apr24 Ourisman Tri-State Subaru charge. #15208AA20A oil filter Current web OEM $7.42. Aug23 $9.60 Apr24 $17.87 #803916010. Gasket. Current web OEM $1.29 Aug23 $1.89 Apr24 $5.42 #SOA635045 Synoil 0w20/qt. Current web OEM $8.20 Aug23 $6.44 Apr24 $12.91 Additionally, Ourisman charged for 6 quarts of oil when the Ascent manual shows that an oil change with filter takes 4.8 quarts (all Matt Slap service times used 5 qt quantity) Lastly, Ourisman adds in a separate category of misc administrative charges not seen under Matt Slap for a ‘File Security & Compliance Fee’ and a ‘Quantity Purchase Recovery’; $8.66 and $14.76 respectively for an additional $23.42 on my bill. It certainly doesn’t seem reasonable to me to continue to use this dealer for anything but warranty work. I’d also like to say that my service advisor, Serena, was efficient, pleasant to work with, kept me informed, and took my note on the price change; I’m sorry I didn’t have time to dig into the details while I was there. Crucito in parts big help in getting mirror parts. Had $80 LOF done today. Charge outrageous!. Told I needed rear brakes. They were done at 33k. Now at 44k !. The 33k job was not done with the OEM mat Had $80 LOF done today. Charge outrageous!. Told I needed rear brakes. They were done at 33k. Now at 44k !. The 33k job was not done with the OEM material pads, resulting in brown break dust on the rears. Big question on needing new rears after 11k. The rotors were turned at 33k. So I would need new rotors as well. Was told you have Sr or veterans discount. Never got it. More
Easy to schedule appointment, quick service and prompt notice that the car was ready. The service tech noticed small items needing attention- wiper blades, tire rotation, but didn’t push on items that wer notice that the car was ready.
