Hello Sabrina, The Patrick Dealer Group customer relations team would like to apologize that your service visit a positive one and we can certainly appreciate the frustration on the cost of repairs. When the vehicle came in and after customer approval, we needed to secure diagnosis. Multiple faults were found. After performing pinpoint testing it was determined that the mass air flow sensor needed to be replaced and system software reset. Approval was given on the repairs and work was completed. It is true that replacing the sensor itself is not that difficult, but the labor charges were weighted on the diagnosis to determine what the issue was. There were three possibilities for the symptoms provided: bad gas (ruled out verbally), the air sensor (30 second removal to test), and the fuel pump (all indications not present). This is also a known problem for Cadillac between 100-120 thousand miles. A quick check of the internet revealed this. At the very least you are suggesting a need to revisit your diagnostic process to reduce cost and improve resolution time. The bottom line is that I could have saved over $1000 if I had just gone to the internet first. Even I could have replaced the sensor following the on-line video. Say what you will about codes and multiple faults … in the end common sense pointed to a known problem. Thank you for your response, Sabrina
