At Prescott Honda I got a detailed explanation from an advisor up front, a debrief after, and a free car wash. I don't live in AZ but have relatives here and I will be back! More
I brought my son’s Honda Civic to Prescott Honda for service on a Honda Certified Pre-Owned vehicle purchased just three months earlier. Two issues were flagged: an auto idle/warning light that appeared service on a Honda Certified Pre-Owned vehicle purchased just three months earlier. Two issues were flagged: an auto idle/warning light that appeared after a battery disconnect, and a creaking/clunking noise noticed while reversing and turning the steering wheel. The service advisor attempted to attribute both issues to a recent aftermarket amp installation, despite the install being non-intrusive with no wire splicing involved, and quoted separate diagnostic fees of roughly $280 each. The idle light issue is a well-documented Honda condition that occurs after any battery disconnect and is typically resolved with a simple reset procedure taking only a couple of minutes — it has nothing to do with an amplifier installation. The creaking and clunking noise while reversing is consistent with a worn CV joint or strut mount, both common wear items and neither related to an audio system install. After I pushed back — noting that neither issue was present at the time of purchase just three months prior — Prescott Honda agreed to waive the diagnostic fee for the creaking/clunking noise. However, the fact that both issues were initially blamed on an unrelated aftermarket install, rather than being evaluated against the vehicle’s CPO warranty coverage, is concerning. It suggests a pattern of shifting blame onto customer modifications to avoid honoring warranty repairs and to generate unnecessary diagnostic fees. I would encourage other customers, especially those with CPO vehicles, to push back on diagnoses that conveniently point away from warranty-covered components, and to request a clear written explanation of why an issue is attributed to aftermarket work before agreeing to pay for diagnostics. First time in with my Honda since moving to Prescott. Tony was great, explained everything and did not take advantage of me and my car. Got the 30K work done and 2 new tires. Sorry but I won’t be doing business with your Honda. Your service department is xxxx. He lied to me and told me that tires go bad at 18k miles when they have a 60k mile warranty. Used a 7 dollar tire checker and pumped it after he checked the tires to make it seem like it was more. I made him do it again and it was at a 4. Needed to be changed after 18k miles. I spent 700 on tires on a leased vehicle with 18k miles. Prescott Honda used to be about people. They lie. Go to Phoenix you’ll get a better deal. More
Thomas was very professional and a great communicator, though I did have a 9am appt and it took over 2.5 hrs for an oil change and general 10k mile check. That was longer than I had expected. though I did have a 9am appt and it took over 2.5 hrs for an oil change and general 10k mile check. That was longer than I had expected. More
