Last month, I went to the dealer to see a 2011 Lincoln Town Car that had 54,001 miles on it. Beautiful car, and it was in black. Just the perfect car I wanted. I arrive there and meet up with one the sales people. He was helpful and what not, and I test drove the car. Everything was fine. Because he knew I was interested in the vehicle, he said I could drive off with the car on the same day. I felt excited, and then I am introduced to the manager. He introduced me to another car while the financial manager contacted banks for a loan. I was specifically interested in the Town Car; however, I decided to drive a new vehicle on the lot. Afterward, while still hoping to get a deal on the Town Car, I finally meet up with the financial manager, and everything went downhill. A bait and switch scenario was about to take place. She first asks me, "Why do I want a used vehicle?" What is it of her business to know that? I begin to explain myself, and then she suddenly interrupts me and explains why I need a brand new car. I let her talk, and, in the end, she tells me to come up with $2000.00 as a down payment. At that time, I did not have the money at hand. She suggested to contact a relative and explain to him that it is "a life and death situation." A life and death situation? First off, I was never interested in the new vehicle and felt pressured the entire time to purchase it. I was told that my previous balance on my current vehicle would be paid off in full, yet she failed to say that the negative equity would roll into the new balance, which would be above $23,000. Nice try. I never contacted the family member for the money, and, after nearly four hours of being at the dealer, I simply say to her and the salesperson, I will have to talk everything over to my family. The financial manager hands me her card, and, once I drove off the lot, I simply threw it out the window.
The Lincoln Town Car may have since sold to someone else, but that day was a huge disappointment to me. Never again. Never again. Thanks for wasting my time.
Because of it, I will not recommend this dealer to anyone.
