I was in the process of buying a 2025 Toyota Camry from this Simi Valley Toyota dealership and they knew I was willing to drive from Seattle to a location in California to buy their car. We were in conversation about my trade in and they asked for photos which I sent them and then I don't hear back for 2 days until they just told me that the car was sold. Their response was that their used cars are on a first come, first serve basis and I can understand that for local buyers but when someone from a 1,000 miles away is showing interest and you are in the middle of discussing a trade and purchase, you have to use a little managerial customer service to think about what would be the right thing to do. And yes, most dealerships might do the same thing but if you want to be considered as exceptional in customer service, then you have to represent exceptional values and that means looking at every single customer as a unique customer. As a former global international customer service manager, that's what I taught and what I made every attempt to do in representing the company that I worked for. Customer service does not just happen and it means going beyond a set of values posted on a wall in your office. Cheryl was great to work with but she cannot make these types of decisions. More
