I bought a 2021 Ford Expedition Max from South Dayton Toyota. Before buying, I clearly asked the salesperson over the phone whether the engine and transmission were in good condition and properly service Toyota. Before buying, I clearly asked the salesperson over the phone whether the engine and transmission were in good condition and properly serviced. I was told everything was good and that the vehicle had been taken care of. As soon as I registered it in Minnesota and drove it for just two days, the transmission started locking in 2nd or 3rd gear, making loud noises and refusing to shift. I had to pull over on the side of the road. It’s clear the transmission is in bad shape and wasn’t serviced at all, despite what I was told. When I contacted them, they told me I should have bought a warranty—completely ignoring the fact that they assured me the vehicle was good. Based on my experience, I feel misled and would strongly warn others to be cautious when buying from them. More
The used car manager did his best to undervalue my car for trade in purposes (as most will do) but while I was in negotiations, one of the employees put a South Dayton Toyota license plate advertisement o for trade in purposes (as most will do) but while I was in negotiations, one of the employees put a South Dayton Toyota license plate advertisement on the front of my car, without my knowledge/permission, which is a violation of Ohio code 541.09 (if I remember correctly), and certainly unethical. My experience is just another reason people hate to buy cars from most dealerships More
