My Review Of Tasca Automotive Group:

We bought a used car for my husband from Dave Bailey several months ago. Just recently, I was shopping for a used Jeep Patriot. Unfortunately, there were not too many locally. One turned up at Metro in Johnston, so I went to look at it.
I wanted the car. It was the right color, the right miles, etc. Boy oh boy, I wish I had known that Tasca could have searched for this vehicle for me.

Night and day. My experience with Metro was so horrible. When I told the Metro sales manager that I later found several negative reviews for them reflecting my same experience, he could care less and responded "who actually takes the time to write good reviews". Well, with my blood pressure back to normal, I have to say he has a point. People don't take the time to write positive reviews.

Thus, my comments on Tasca. Never once did we feel pressured. Not once did we worry about checking every little line on every piece of paper. Several months later, I am more than confident that if we had a problem with our out of warranty used car, I could pick up the phone to call Dave Baily and he would find a way to help us.

I took our experience with Tasca for granted and assumed other large dealerships would be just as courteous and professional. NOT.
Call Tasca. Tell them what you're looking for. They will find the car you want. It will be a fair price and you will be treated with respect.
Specifically, ask for Dave Baily. He doesn't talk at you, he actually listens. He's professional, he knows the cars, and backed by the Tasca Dealership, he will do whatever is needed to make the customer satisfied.

My Review Of Tasca Automotive Group:

While Ford is delivering some amazing cars, you can certainly find a better experience elsewhere. It was obvious from the way they played my trade-in value, that they look to take advantage of people who don't know any better or who are desperate for one reason of another. The price they offered for my trade-in was an insult to me and an embarrassment to Tasca, the salesman (a relatively nice guy), and their finance team. As a consumer, Tasca doesn't seem to understand it's 2013 and nearly ALL knowledge about pricing can be found online. Do yourself a favor...either skip Tasca altogether or, if you're set on purchasing a new car from them, take your trade-in to CarMax in Attleboro. My experience there was TOP NOTCH, quick, and easy. They offered me $6,500 more for my trade-in than Tasca did - an absolute no-brainer.

Add to that the fact that the much more expensive 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid Titanium is averaging about 34 MPG (about the same as the non-hybrid model, and MUCH less than the STILL ADVERTISED 47 MPG) and lesson learned.

RandleR,

I am sorry for your poor experience at my dealership. I would like to learn more about what happened in the hopes of addressing any process issues and improving our customer service. A $6,500 trade value discrepency is incredible. We use the latest technology to appraise a vehicle based on real time auction and resale values. This technology allows us to be as aggressive as possible when appraising a trade. I would like speak with you to see what went wrong with our appraisal process. Please contact me via this site.

Sincerely,

Carl Tasca, Jr.

Carl -

You're more than welcome to contact me by mobile phone at any time.

The trade-in offer made to me for my 2011 Lexus IS250C was $26,500. You can check with Don for all the details. I did all of my research before coming in, obviously - as any smart consumer would do. After laughing at the absurd offer, I told them I wouldn't be accepting the factory-ordered new Fusion. I was told I'd lose my $500 deposit. After laughing again, I'm calmly and cooly said I'd rather lose the $500 than get completely screwed with a terrible trade-in deal. Then I was told I could actually get the $500 back when/if the car sold to another buyer. I said I wasn't happy with that on any level, but "fine" and left.

The next day, I got another ridiculously manipulative call saying they had "pleaded" with the GM to get this car into my hands and lo and behold, the trade-in price miraculously jumped 4K to $30,500. So now my time was being wasted yet again. After waiting 4+ months for the delivery of this vehicle, I would have expected the deal to get done in Hour 1 of Day 1...not over multiple days and multiple trips to the dealership.

After lots of back and forth, i decided to make the deal at 31K. The morning I was to come in to close the deal, I decided to get a second opinion on the value of my trade-in, I decided to take it up to CarMax for an estimate. In 25 short minutes, I had a $33,000 check in my hands for the vehicle. By my math...and by "my" I simply mean "math"...that's a $6,500 difference on your dealership's "best and final" original offer.

This was an absolute waste of everyone's time - MINE mostly. Unforgivable in my eyes. Therefore, I'm tasked with sharing my experience with as many consumers as I can in hopes they don't get suckered by shady deals in a time of need. I'm sure you can understand that.

Randle,

I once again would like to apologize for your poor experience. I have met with the team members that appraised your vehicle to see where they went wrong. I agree that such a variance in the initial trade offer that you were given and the final number is unacceptable. I also agree that we should have been more prepared given that the vehicle that you were interested in was a factory order.

While I cannot change what happened I hope that the actions taken after reading your review will help to prevent this type of poor experience from happening again. Our goal is to respect a customer's time by offering a fair and precise trade appraisal right away rather than playing the games that some dealers often play. This requires proper use of our appraisal software and efficient communication betweent the sales manager, sales rep, and pre-owned manager. I would once again like to offer my most sincere apologies for your poor experience and I would like to offer my personal services should you ever need anything in the future.

Sincerely,

Carl Tasca, Jr.

Thank you, Carl. I appreciate your follow-up, follow-through, and the apology. No doubt cultural shifts are tough, but I wish you all the best in trying to see them through. All the great tools in the world are useless if the people using them push the bounds of personal and professional integrity. The entire time I was going through this, I thought, "I'd HATE to see my mom (or anyone I care about, for that matter) having to navigate these treacherous waters." I certainly realize I can't change the entire world by speaking up for what's right, but I'll never give up trying.

My Review Of Tasca Automotive Group:

I had been looking for weeks for a certain car and found it listed on Autotrader at Tasca. There were no pictures yet, just a generic stock photo. I had been to the place a couple of weeks ago and had Lou's card, so I called him asking about the car. He told me it wasn't there yet and he'd call me as soon as it arrived. A couple of days later, I checked the website, saw photos of the car and called back. Lou said the car had been sold, to one of their mechanics, before it even when out of the lot. If that’s the case, then why are there pictures on their website of the car sitting on the lot?

My Review Of Tasca Automotive Group:

Went in with a true price from online. Salesman I was referred to was gone for the day so just decide to talk to whoever was around got Bayo. He was okay, but not super friendly. Gave me the feeling he didn’t think we where seriously looking for a car. Decided to go with the 2013 Fusion Titanium. Wanted in fwd in black or grey they didn’t have it. So they tried to work out a deal with the awd one they did have. Told Bayo from the beginning we were going to lease. Wasted about 2-3 hours just sitting there trying to work a price and trade in price. Got up to see what was taking so long and they where all in Tony office talking and laughing not professional at all. Finally came back with a amount just enough for my trade in when the car was worth more on KBB and Edmunds. Then tried a trick by putting the msrp price back on there at $38,645 with a payment of $581 a month. Bayo told us that they couldn’t work the price because it was a lease. At this point I was just so annoyed I said fine and left. Why was he talking prices with us the whole time knowing we where going to lease. If you supposedly cant change the price which I looked online for all this info before and found out you can negotiate the MSRP of the lease. Well all said and done just went to Honda and got an amazing not MSRP price on the lease. If your younger go somewhere else where they actually will respect your knowledge and all of the research you do. I did my homework and they pretty much laughed at me.

George, Daria, the Service Dept., and Bob Tasca himself were all so kind, friendly,
& professional AND showed such a generosity of spirit when it became clear that our
Hyundai "Santa Fe" was "dying" of "unknown causes" and we would have to be shopping
for another vehicle. We are very pleased with how we were treated and are most pleased
with the vehicle we purchased ( pre-owned 2010 Lincoln "MKZ"). We also had mud guards
recently installed by the Service Dept. and couldn't be more satisfied with how quickly
and professionally this work was accomplished.
