The Way Car Dealerships Should Be I’ve always believed that walking into a car dealership meant you should consider yourself in a den of thieves. It was time to replace my gas guzzlin I’ve always believed that walking into a car dealership meant you should consider yourself in a den of thieves. It was time to replace my gas guzzling Ford truck with a more efficient smaller car. My dream car was always the Honda Civic which I had previously owned in the late 90’s to early 2k’s. Now, on a fixed income the new Civics looked beyond my reach. I had my eye set on the lower priced Fit. I watched lots of online videos about the Fit and loved it. I also watched lots of videos about the tricks some car dealers use to maximize their profits. With this knowledge I went to Tom Scott Honda in early November and an engaging professional named Jennifer Woodson showed me the Fit. I indeed liked what I saw but wanted to compare it to other vehicles in its price and class. She understood and agreed telling me she would like to help me if I decided on the Fit. Fast forward to end of December. I knew from research that it’s a great time to get deals. I had wanted the 2020 Fit but was disappointed when Honda announced it would be no different than the 2019. I called Jennifer and arranged a test drive of the remaining Fit on the lot. It was nice but those Civics kept catching my eye. While just looking at the 2020 Civics I knew I didn’t want to pay that much more above the Fit. In conversation Jennifer told me about the very minor difference between the 19 and 29 models of the Civic. Needless to say it was so minor that it was worth the huge amount of savings to consider the brand new 2019 Civic EX with 19 miles on it. Jennifer offered a price below their invoice price. A quick look online showed me it was an excellent deal and very close to the Fit that I had been settling on, I agreed to take the Civic and was bracing myself for the next step the dreaded sales managers and finance managers. I already had preapproved Honda financing so I was prepared to stand my ground or walk away if necessary. Surprise. At Tom Scott Honda in Nampa there is no little room to sit in with a fast talking high pressure Finance manager. Jennifer and I sat down with a coffee at a cafe table in the middle of the showroom and she went to retrieve paperwork. She came back with a very plain to read offer. the sale price of the car. Trade in offer for my truck and financing offer. Bottom line was monthly payments. The trade in was lower than my researched price so I said it would not be acceptable and I wanted 48 month financing not 60. She left for a few minutes and came back with an agreement on both. It was then I noticed the interest rate was lower than Honda had quoted and she said it was actually through a local credit union, I was pleasantly surprised. (Yes I know dealers get a “kick back” from the financing but that was going to happen either way and this was still below my original deal. A win win in my book. I agreed to the offer and she left to get the car prepped and ready and the paperwork finalized. A few minutes later I believe it was Jessie Smith who came over and asked if I wanted to add extended warrantee, paint protection etc and when I said no there was no pressure, remember I am still sitting at a cafe table in the middle of the show room not in a little back room. Within 30-40 minutes Jennifer led me out to my newly detailed beauty sitting outside the showroom. She took time to go over all the features and set up my iPhone interface. She had another customer waiting and I insisted she go take care of them that I was quite satisfied and knew I could stop by anytime with questions. It had only been about 2 hours since I arrived on the lot to just test drive! Bottom line. You know how you sometimes get buyers remorse after a purchase and feel like you’ve gotten beaten in a deal? That did not happen. I am sure that Tom Scott Honda through factory incentives and sales margin on my trade in made money and I am now driving a new Honda Civic EX which is much more satisfying than its lessor sibling the Fit and it’s still within my budget. I could not have asked for a better experience in buying this car, I’ve bought several in my lifetime and never felt so satisfied and genuinely treated as a valued customer not a chance to grab as much profit as possible. I highly recommend you see Jennifer at Tom Scott Honda when you are starting your search for a new vehicle. I also suggest Tom Scott Honda give this young sales professional a promotion or raise. She is a wonderful asset to the organization. More

He was quite thorough in explaining the features of the various models were test drove. We would really like to commend manager Craig Collins. We bought an extended warranty for some parts and discovered a day later that these were alrready covered by our existing auto policy. The paperwork was still with Tom Scott Honda and had not been sent over to the insurer. We called my Mr. Collins and he had a refund check ready at the front desk the same day. More

Everything went well until the paperwork came around. We ha been pre-approved through our bank (5 hrs away), they tried talking us into using their financing because it was more convenient for them. When we didn’t go with their plan the salesman (JOE) became very frustrated. Exact quote “WE ARE DOING THIS MY WAY”. At this point we were ready to walk away. What he wanted to do was reasonable, but it was not explained until after we were ready to walk. My husband called Joe out on his aggressive, unprofessional comment and Joe proceeded to pout through the rest of the transaction. When we were done he said “the cars out there, and the keys are in it”, and walked away. No hand shake, no thank you. Just very unprofessional behavior. DONT WORK WITH JOE. More

C These guys are absolutely phenomenal!! After my last used car buying experience being an absolute nightmare i was wary of making my next purchase. Colt went above and beyond in every way to get my husband and i into a great car with a great warranty, an interest rate i didn't imagine possible with my husband's credit, and a payment that didn't break the bank. It was quick, easy, and we are so, so happy with our purchase. I can't say enough good things about these guys!! More

Shopped 5 Dealers - Tom Scott Honda is the BEST We purchased a 2018 Honda Accord Touring 1.5L today, and after shopping 5 dealers in the northwest, we ended up purchasing from Tom Scott Honda in Nam We purchased a 2018 Honda Accord Touring 1.5L today, and after shopping 5 dealers in the northwest, we ended up purchasing from Tom Scott Honda in Nampa. Here's a combination of the best parts of the experience: 1. They offered a more competitive price than ALL the others. 2. They wanted to sell us the car as much as we wanted to buy the car, which aligned our interests quickly. 3. The Internet Manager, Kris, assisted us, and he was extremely kind, understanding, helpful, and never pushy or annoying. We sincerely liked him and having had the opportunity to deal with him. 4. The Sales Manager, Dominick, was busy and "quick" with us, but that meant he put his best foot forward and never wasted our time with irritating back-and-forth. 5. We felt respected and appreciated both during the process and with the outcome. 6. We got what we wanted and became huge fans of the sincerity and honesty we witnessed. We hope the dealership was also as happy to make the sale to us. More
Dont trust everything they say double check everything! I went there to purchase a specific car only to find out it was sold. Then I looked at a more expensive car. I waswset to buy that one but they trie I went there to purchase a specific car only to find out it was sold. Then I looked at a more expensive car. I waswset to buy that one but they tried to tack on extended warranty when the car had manufacturers warranty still in place for another 40,000 miles. I asked them to remove it. I came already with financing through Capital One and while I was sitting at their desk waiting for them theto fix the contract my salesman's "bosses" took it upon themselves to run my credit through a bunch of other places so I was getting notices of inquiries on my reports while sitting there ready to sign to paperwork to purchase the second car I picked out! I locked my report and asked them what they were doing!?! They said they were trying to get me a better interest rate...but they didn't have my permission and the deal was already done I already had financing and I had worked it out to get a lower rate after a year of on time payments I could refinance which they were told this! I left without buying the car! I went to Corwin Ford instead where I had a great hassle free experience. Why would you do that when your customer walks in with pre-approved financing and they have a contract sitting in front of them already!?! Nick my salesman was really nice so if you do intend to go there ask for him but beware of the bosses and finance people!!! More

Recall rip off I took my honda in for air bag recall . they replaced air bags but also my ignition switch which they said was on recall as well. Several months later I took my honda in for air bag recall . they replaced air bags but also my ignition switch which they said was on recall as well. Several months later my ignition switch started malfunctioning. I returned to have it checked and they said I'd have to agree to a service charge of 55.00 to 135.00 before they would even look at it. I asked if they would look at just the ignition switch and they said not unless I agreed in advance to pay the service charge. Then the service manager told me very rudely that it's not their problem since my car is 2003 model. What does that have to do with a faulty ignition switch? I'm taking my car to my mechanic to get it checked for free. And if it is a faulty ignition switch I will ask Honda to pay for the replacement. Since it was never a problem before they replaced it. I'll update my review once I have the report from my mechanic. More
