I have visited Torch Light twice, now--the first time to view their cars and the second time to purchase. I was nothing but impressed with them on both occasions. I love the low-key sales style that they have in place. You are handed a complete list of the inventory with stock numbers (which helps to locate the car on the lot), VIN numbers, model numbers and mileage. The multi-page listing is absolutely great for deciding exactly which cars you want to examine further. And, believe me, he has a lot of nice cars--you could spend hours looking if you wanted. Once I located two that I was interested in, I was given keys to both and Jeff was available nearby to answer any questions that I had, but you are otherwise pretty much left to your own devices, which I happen to prefer. Jeff answered all of my questions and told me the advantages of one model over the other. The S60, which had caught my eye, turned out to have a 5 cylinder engine and AWD which I really liked. Jeff pointed out that the S60 would even get slightly better mileage because of the 5 cylinder versus the other model I was also looking at, which had a 6 cylinder. The S60 had higher mileage and when I asked about service issues that might come up at that mileage, Jeff popped the hood and showed me the date the timing belt had been changed. It had, indeed, been recently changed. The engine looked very, very clean and seemed to have all new looking hoses. I left, inspired with confidence to come back when I had sold the vehicle that I was currently driving. Jeff invited me to come back anytime and test drive any of them. About a week later, I sold my vehicle and went online to be sure that the one I wanted was still available. It was and had even dropped in price by $100! Since my girlfriend was taking the day off to drive me all the way up there, I called Jeff to tell him that I was still interested in the S60 but that the check from the dealership where I sold my car would not clear for one week. He had absolutely no problems working with me and said that if I decided I wanted the car, we could work this out and I could leave with the car. He then provided my girlfriend with directions. By the time we arrived, the car had been prepped and was clean and shiny inside and out and even had the key fobs tucked into the side of the car since he knew we were on our way up. Lovely touches! We took the S60 out for a test drive and then, at our request, Jeff gave us a full demonstration of how all the gadgets worked. I loved the S60 and decided I definitely wanted the vehicle. So, we went to the office to complete all the paperwork. In this process, I had to call up my insurance company to delete my previous vehicle and to add the Volvo. The quotes from my carrier (whom I had been with almost 20 years) were outrageously high no matter whether I elected just liability or full comprehensive coverage. When I hung up the phone, Jeff suggested it was time for me to find another insurance carrier and suggested a more appropriate rate range than what I was quoted. He was SO right. I took some time to call around and found that Geico would write the insurance for the Volvo for about one third of what I had been quoted by my insurance company. So, I was able to get the full comprehensive insurance that this lovely vehicle deserves and still save about $1,000 a year at the same time! Painful lesson but now I'm set. The ride home was very smooth and I am loving this car. It is also fun to take a peek out the window and see it parked in my driveway. I highly recommend this dealership to anyone and my friend told me that she was also impressed. It is a very different and welcome change from the normal high pressure sales environment that you find at most places. Jeff knows each of his vehicles well and you can't catch him off-guard with a question he can't answer. If I am ever in the market for another car, Torch Light will be at the top of my list. I bought a 2005 Audi A4 Avant. The price was very competative since I shopped around. I travelled to several dealerships looking for a specific vehicle. The quality of this vehicle was outstanding. Great leather interior, exterior was good and ran well. I had a coiple issues after purchase which were quickly taken care of. I didnt get the title right away (lost in mail) and they immediately got me a replacement. I will buy another car from Torchlight Motors again! More

We called about a used Volvo and were sold on the idea that the car was in excellent condition. We put a deposit down and flew 400 miles to buy the car and drive home. We made arrangements to arrive on a specific day and even emailed a couple days before to confirm. When we arrived to the dealership, the appearance of the car was horrible. We couldn't believe it was the same car! It was dirty inside and out, it had scratches and lots of cosmetic issues. The front headlamp was all fogged up. When we turned the car on, it blew HOT air from the a/c. Jeff (the owner) was not on site at this time. The service guy kept rambling on that the headlamp was fogged up because they parked the car facing the wrong direction... making us even more angry that he would treat us like we were idiots! Once Jeff arrived, he had the service guy charge the a/c and ASSURED us that it must be a "smaller than pinhole sized leak" in the a/c, but it was definitely not the compressor! He told us we needed to put "blinders on to the cosmetics issues because it is such a mechanically sound vehicle". WRONG! By the time we drove the car home, the a/c had completely died. We also started having issues when the car would first start, and then immediately die. We had to pay $1,100 for diagnostics and a brand new a/c compressor. But WAIT, I thought the owner assured us that it was NOT the compressor??? Oh yeah, people LIE and there is nothing you can do about it once you have driven the car home! Except for writing a review in hopes that someone reads it and is fore-warned about dealers with BAD business practices!! Do not be fooled by the warranty "spiel" either. Penn Warranty company does not even pay 50% of the cost that it takes to fix problems. Our volvo is still having major mechanical issues and on top of that we are having to pay to get the car fully detailed because it is such a dirty mess and was never cleaned up for our arrival! Jeff's wfe made a slighted comment when we first arrived claiming she wished she would have known we were coming because they would have gotten the car ready. I guess calling and emailing to confirm our arrival date and time was not enough. We wish we would have simply taken a cab back to the airport and paid for 2 plane tickets home!! BUYERS BEWARE!!! More

I have been looking for a while for a reasonable car to get around, I had come across Torch light in the usual search engines but was skeptical as to the quality and price. I was amazed and happy to spend my money when I saw that it was a genuine deal and the cars were as described. I was also impressed that on both cars I had shortlisted had been fully serviced, including a cam belt replacement - which took a whole lot of worry from me. it was a no pressure sales approach, when I arrived I was given a sheet of paper with the important details of all the cars on the lot, i was able to have a good look and make my own choice. the price was fixed but fair, it was a simple honest approach. I liked dealing with Torchlight and would recommend them to anyone. More

My wife and I were recently in the market for a used volvo. We live in Vermont and our neighbor had purchased a used volvo from Torch Light Motors 3 years ago. 100k miles since they bought it and stil volvo. They recommended visit Torch Light's website. There we found many Volvo that would potentially fit our needs and budget. So we packed up the kids and drove 6 hours to Torch Light's location in NJ. I must admit we were immediately taken back at the very laid back way they handled us. We first were greeted by Herb who gave us an inventory list and quick overview of the lot and left us to do our thing. Herb was very patient with us as we looked at about 6 different volvos and test drove 4 of them. We found all the cars to be clean both mechanically and physically which actually made our decision making much more difficult. So after 3 hours of looking, touching and feeling we decided on a 2005 xc90. We went into the office and met Jeff (the owner). Very friendly and personable. At no time did my wife or I feel like we were in the midst of buying a car. It felt more like a get together with some old friends. Easy, low key, no stress and dare I say fun. Well we have since driven back home and put on almost 1500 miles since the purchase. We LOVE our new used volvo. Thank you Jeff and Herb for a great experience that hopefully other people will also get to experience at Torch Light Motors. More
