My Review of Toyota Scion of Hollywood:
Poor explanation of financing; forceful in putting extra charges that are optional, tries to manipulate unsuspecting and vulnerable customers like myself, unwanted services are added without knowledge and when a customer is aware, the job or product has already been done or installed.

Employee(s) Dealt With: Evan LaFair, Alfred Melkumyants

My Review of Toyota Scion of Hollywood:
I went into Toyota interested in the Scion iQ and the Yaris. My first interaction was with Alfred. I inquired about the Scion iQ and was told I couldn't test drive it. (Turns out the model they had was missing some parts- but I wasn't informed of that at the time. I also question why a dealership would have a brand new car on their lot with parts missing, but apparently thats how they do/don't do business). After looking at some of their pre-owned vehicles, Alfred and I took a Yaris out for a spin. He was incredibly friendly, and happily showed me a lot of the features, but ultimately the deal they offered was a little ho-hum for a budget car. I got a much better quote from dealerships in Glendale- Kia and Ford.
Before I made my final decision I still wanted to test drive an iQ, and did a quick internet search for North Hollywood toyota- but was put in touch with Hollywood Toyota again. This time I spoke with Evan. I use 'spoke' in the loosest term, I tried to explain to him what I was looking for in a vehicle and what I was seeing out there, and he kept interrupting me. I had to ask him if I could complete a sentence! Finally, after being cut off 3 more times I flat out said 'I'm tired of being interrupted, and I think I'll look elsewhere' and he hung up the phone!

Although I do wish Alfred, my original sales person, the best- I wouldn't step foot in Toyota of Hollywood because of how rude Evan was. Dealerships like this don't deserve my money!

Employee(s) Dealt With: Peter Kang, Todd Ruthman, Jose, Randy (Parts)

My Review of Toyota Scion of Hollywood:
I purchased a certified used Highlander from Toyota Hollywood based on an online ad. in June 2011. This was the first time I deal with this Toyota dealer. It was also my first time purchasing a used Toyota. The experience I had at this dealership was nothing but pleasant. There were a few minor problems with the used vehicle and the managers Peter Kang and Todd Ruthman took care of all of them. A couple of them were taken care of after the sale and simply based on verbal promises. Peter Kang is really an honorable salesman, which is hard to come by nowadays. I am completely satisfied with Toyota Hollywood and would recommended this dealer to everyone.

Employee(s) Dealt With: Marty Lewin, Kenny Burns

My Review of Toyota Scion of Hollywood:
UPDATE 8/25/2011: About three weeks after leaving this review, I was contacted by Kenny Burns of Toyota of Hollywood. He'd read this message and asked what he could do to correct the problem. Obviously the contract was signed and so there was nothing to be done in that regard. Due to our conflicting schedules, it took some time for the two of us to get on the phone, but once we finally spoke in person, Mr. Burns and I came to an agreement on how to make the situation right. He offered me a very generous price on the Extended Service Plan, which I accepted, and when I stopped in to sign, he had my car washed and fueled.

I must say, at first I was skeptical that this was simply an opportunity for him to sell me on more services, but after speaking with him, I believed he genuinely wanted to see to it that my business was respected and desired beyond the initial purchase of the car.

I would be happy to take my business back there as well as recommend others to their dealership.

...just read and understand everything before you sign. This wasn't an entirely enjoyable experience though, as I've said, I'm to blame for that as well. That Kenny Burns was willing to work to win me back (and with our conflicting schedules, he did work!) is very impressive.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
During the negotiation process, when it was discovered I was upside down on my car, Marty Lewin spoke with his manager and with Jaime Lopez (whom I'd dealt with via email) and agreed to break even on the car. When it came time to sign the documents, I discovered they had not held up their end of the bargain and instead passed the cost on to me ($1,000 instead of the $700 discovered during negotiations).

I am at fault for signing without fully understanding that that was what had happened, but when I raised this miscommunication, I was told I was wrong and that no such deal was ever struck. My repeated attempts to at least get them to say they had said one thing and done another were met with refusal to admit anything.

Wether Marty forgot what was negotiated or lied about making the negotiation, I cannot be certain, but the end result was my feeling cheated out of $1,000. I will not be taking my car there for any servicing nor will I be giving them any business, either personal or referral.

Employee(s) Dealt With: Reza Laleh

My Review of Toyota Scion of Hollywood:
Marty completely shattered my previous notion of a "car salesman." He didn't try to sell me extras he knew I didn't want, he made the entire transaction smooth and pleasant, and in short, I got exactly what I wanted for the agreed on price.

I would definitely recommend (and have done so) this dealership and Marty in particular to anyone shopping for a Toyota or Scion.

My Review of Toyota Scion of Hollywood:
I was very pleased with the service I recieved from Marty. I did all my research before purchasing my vehicle. I got a goo response from Marty through email whichi made it very convienent for me. When I did go in to the dealer ship I asked for him and was directed to his desk.I was pleased with the way he handled my inquires. To bad there is not more people like Marty. A good honest person and very helpful. I do apologize for taking a while for responding to you. I had moved at the end of November and things are just starting to settle.
So thank you once again for your services.
The only thing I have a cpmplaint on was that when my daughter took the car to Hamer Toyota in mission hills for the 1st oil change , they eanted to charge her $90.00. The girl there had told her that the dealerships were not to be telling people that there is free 2years services. I would like to know if this is true or not.The girl that helped her talked to the manager and they went ahead and did the oil change at no charge-this time only.
Can you please explain to me how this is suppose to work if certain dealerships dont want to keep there commitment on this.
Thank you for your time.

Randolph was pleasant and professional, answered all my questions during and after the test drive when I was debating whether to go with the Prius 2 or 3 (I went with the 3). Reza gave me a fantastic deal that I've yet to hear topped anywhere, and believe me I asked around.

Employee(s) Dealt With: Ben Girmay, Reza Laleh, Joe Magana

My Review of Toyota Scion of Hollywood:
Ben was very friendly, and helpful. He picked me up from Carmax to bring me to the Toyota dealership, and has made follow-up calls to ensure that I like the car. One comment in response to the sale, however, is that I would have benefited from a more detailed "tour" of the car. I would have liked to have known the function of all of the buttons in the car. I actually didn't think of that during the sale, but sort of wished I had that service when I was buying the car.

Employee(s) Dealt With: Aaron Mushin, Jeff Szabatura

My Review of Toyota Scion of Hollywood:
I had 8 dealers bid on the specific model and options I wanted, so THEY set the price. Aaron was the best bid (well, one was $50 lower, but another 15 miles away in L.A. traffic). So, the price was set and an appointment made. Picking up the car was smooth. Both Aaron and Finance Officer Jeff Szabatura were terrific guys. Regular guys. They were helpful and pleasant ~ the antithesis of the stereotypical hard-sell huckster. Aaron coached wisely on which road to take with Toyota's unbeatable financing ~ .9% for 4 years (that's not 9 percent, that's 9/10ths of a percent!) Although my credit score showed that it would not be a problem getting the loan, I was still concerned about taking possession of the car before it was totally final, which takes a day or so. Jeff called over the weekend ~ on Sunday, no less ~ to tell us that indeed it WAS final. Very considerate. These guys rock!
