We read t While driving from Sacramento to Tucson and stopping in Sedona, we discovered that the moonroof on our 2011 Subaru Outback would not close. We read the manual and removed the cover to the moonroof control to access the manual override. We followed the instructions but we're unable to close the moonroof manually. When we arrived in Tucson, we took the car to the local Subaru dealership. The mechanic estimated the work to dismantle the moonroof and replace possibly broken parts at approx. $1500. When I told the service advisor, Wendy Angelini that we recently had $400 of work done on the moonroof in Sacramento, when it was disassembled to clean the drain holes, she went back and told the mechanic. When I went to Wendy to authorize the repair, she told me that the mechanic went back and tinkered with the moonroof and found that it was misaligned. He realigned the moonroof and it worked. This attention to detail saves us a lot of money. In addition to the moonroof, the mechanic also inspected the entire car and found that the right front strut was leaking. Wendy said this was unusual because the car had only 20,000 miles on it and the strut should not fail at 20,000 miles. The car was out of warrantee, so Wendy called Subaru corporate and explained the situation. They authorized the replacement of the strut at no cost to us. Not only did Tucson Subaru repair the moonroof for the minimal cost of one hour of labor and replace the strut, but as I was leaving, Wendy gave me a coupon for a complementary car wash. I could not thank her enough. She is an asset to the Subaru dealership and is an excellent employee. The mechanic who was equally thorough and conscientious. I am very grateful to both of them. Justin Smith provided excellent customer service My wife's 2011 Forester's battery failed on the very last day of the 3 year warranty period, and, of course, after Tucson's Subaru service center was My wife's 2011 Forester's battery failed on the very last day of the 3 year warranty period, and, of course, after Tucson's Subaru service center was closed. The following day (April Fools day, no less) I called the Subaru service department to ask about a battery replacement. Justin Smith was the service rep who assisted me. He saw that the car was just one day out of warranty, and realized the irony of the situation. Although the service request was past the warranty period, meaning that technically labor and parts were no longer covered, Justin provided a new battery at no cost. I consider this excellent customer relations, above and beyond my expectations, and he should be acknowledged for making an intelligent executive decision. He certainly made my day!
