My Review of VOB BMW:
Try this on for hand...
On May 19, 2009, I was in a car accident, so at about 12:30pm, I physically drove my car to VOB Auto Body to drop it off. I explained to the VOB Body Shop representative that insurance agency was sending an appraiser by, within the next three days to access the damages. So, at that time, I informed the VOB rep not to begin any work on my car, until I know how insurance agency was going to handle my claim, since there was difference of opinion concerning accidental fault of the wreckage.
On May 20, 2009, around 12:39pm Colline Seeper (VOB Rep) called and left a voice message, explaining that the appraiser came out to look at my car and the estimated damages were $5,400.00. I phoned Colline back at 1:07pm and she restated the above information. I then stated that I would like them to hold off on having any work performed on my car, until I contact the insurance agency to obatin additional information and Colline said "No problem".
I contacted the insurance agency at 1:16pm, to discuss some fine details about the lifetime warranty of the repairs. I was then informed that VOB Auto Body was not a preferred repair shop, so if I decided to use their body shop and the repairs were not performed to my liking, insurance agency would not mediate any concerns. I would have to work through the matters myself. With that, I decided to go with a recommended auto body shop. I phoned VOB back at 2:04pm and spoke to Randy Kraft(VOB Manager), I let him know that I was going with another repair shop, so I was making arrangements to have my car towed and someone should be there within the hour. No outstanding charges were ever mentioned by Randy at that time, so we both hung up the phone with a mutual understanding that my car was being picked up by Henry's Towing Service.
When the towing company arrived to take possession of my vehicle, Randy Kraft (VOB Manager) refused to release my car. Instead, he claimed that I owed a $200.00 fee. Now, I was never made aware of this fee during our initial discussion, this fee was not outlined within the paperwork, nor was a sign disclosed within the location referencing this fee. After, a day and a half of disputing this fee VOB, Randy Kraft still refused to release my car. They stated that the $200.00 was a teardown fee, so we continued to go back and forth about this fee. On May 21, 2009, I ended up paying the $200.00 fee under duress, as I didn’t know what else to do, since I had already spoken with several members of management.
