Bait & switch or just inept? We found a car on the Racine Toyota & Scion (formerly, Gentile Toyota) website and printed out the page with the published price (documentation availa We found a car on the Racine Toyota & Scion (formerly, Gentile Toyota) website and printed out the page with the published price (documentation available). After the sales pitch, test drive, etc. the salesman began price negotiations with a price about $7000.00 higher than the published price. When confronted, he left, and returned with another salesman who told us the published price was a "mistake" and that there was "no way" they'd sell the car to us for the published price. Their manager later told us that as a newer business, they were prone to making mistakes and that this kind of thing never happened before and implied that we were just out of luck. Thus, we were left wondering if they are either too dishonest or simply too stupid to sell cars, as they are surely one or the other. Possible answer: while we thought at the time that we were unique in our being victimized by Racine Toyota, we found that Edmunds.com has a review dated 01/22/14 which reflects a very similar incident suffered by yet another victim of the dealership and The Better Business Bureau (of which this dealership is apparently not a member) has three similar reviews. I was treated fairly and courteously by all of the staff at Gentile. I was also very pleased with my experience with both Mr. Mink & Theresa in the finance department. It was also nice that Mr. Mink-- introduced me to the service personnel, set up a reminder regarding my first oil change and also made a follow-up call to be sure that I was happy and not having any problems with my new vehicle. Mike was patient with our questions, and gave us hands on experience with all the apps and cellphone connections without making us feel stupid - I have really impressed my kids with my knowledge of all this technology! Every person we dealt with at the dealership (Mike, Kevin, Theresa, Scott and the guy who held the door :) treated us with respect and offered help, it was refreshing to see such great customer service. I to had a bad experience with the finance person Theresa Clemens. She was extremely aggressive about trying to sell the extended warranty. She was very hard sell. We purchased the extended warranty and the very next morning called Theresa to cancel it. We were told the paperwork hadn't even gone in and it would be removed. Well, it has still been added to my balance at the bank. We spoke with Kevin and he also assured us it would be removed. This experience has not been good. I feel I was deceived and am extremely unhappy. More
