Wonderful People - marilee
My Sister and nephew both purchased their cars from Linden Towne Auto Sales, Inc., and had a great experience with Bruce and Ian. I kept looking on their website for an SUV and low and behold I found the perfect car. I called them to let them know that I was interested in same and would be there to look at the car in a few hours. They were so nice that they held the car for me. Upon my arrival I took one look and new I had found my car, after not driving for 7 years.. They make car buying so personal and easy. I have also referred their dealership to many people. Kudos to both of you. Keep up the good work.

Low pressure, minimal haggle, zero BS car buying experience - DDK
I found the make and model of the truck I was looking for at Arrow. I called and Shawn gave me a very honest review of the truck and it's flaws over the phone. I was coming from an hour away and he had it ready for me when I arrived. I liked what I saw and he had already lowered the price on my arrival to minimize the haggling. He held my check as a deposit and didn't cash it true to his word.
They allowed me to bring my mechanic back to look the truck over, They gave us time alone to inspect and discuss. Some minor issues were found so they were agreeable in a price adjustment. In the end I think I got a very fair deal. And the truck came with a limited warranty. Shawn was great to deal with. Very professional and a nice guy. I would highly recommend him.

Great place to buy a used car! - wonderful people! - Craig P
We just recently purchased our second car (a Mazda 3) from Alex at Carvan Motors for my daughter to commute to college and couldn't have been happier with the car and the whole used car buying experience. The other vehicle was a loaded Honda Odyssey we I love it! He and his wife Alexandra handled the entire transaction process professionally and efficiently. They are an honest hardworking auto body shop (hard to find) and stand behind everything they do to the cars. Alex will show you exactly what was replaced on each vehicle and all his cars are like brand new - low miles late models. I searched for months to find the best all-around deal throughout the tristate area and it is very difficult when there are so many internet misrepresentations games being played. That is not the case with Carvan Motors. You pay exactly what he says and processing fees are a flat low rate of $278. They do all the paperwork and you get your permanent plates in just days. I would highly recommend a trip to Carvan to test drive any of his inventory.
Best experience buyer a car EVER!!! - Ellen
I came to the dealership with the goal of learning about leasing and to see
which car might be comfortable for me, Forester or Crosstec. Bruce Barcalow was the salesman who educated me(literally) about both. Very low key and patient with my uncertainty. Encouraging and supportive as I made my decisions. He had paid attention to what I said during our conversation and took initiative to bring certain features to light that would assist me-he cared. How often has any one encountered that in a car dealer?
The salesman who searches for the car you want- color,packages- worked hard to find me exactly the car I wanted. First choice of color. Thank You!!!
Finance office is usually a whirl wind of papers and talking trying to sell you more things. Again, laid back, informative, considerate, and no pressure. The whole process...RELAXING!

Stay away - nothing but lemons - bobadr01
Shady, shady, shady - you're out of luck if you leave the lot in one of his cars. Other then selling you a car and the extended warranty which is garbage, he won't stand by his cars, but will give you a slew of car mechanic business cards. Do not trust this guy. In the end, go somewhere else and even spend more. Now, up to $2000 in repairs, 2 months after purchase. You have been warned.
Good Dealer - wax
It started with a add I seen for a used car. I called and spoke with Kevin and told him, I did not want to drive 30 miles, if the car was not in good condition. He said! give me a minute to check it over and called me back, saying its in good used car condition. My wife and I arrived and asked Kevin to show us the car. He gave us the keys after a brief description, and left us to check it out on our own. We liked it, but had others at nearby dealers to look at. So we returned about two hours later and took a test ride with a Martinez ? So we bought the car, but it had a few safety issues that needed fixing. Missing a drivers side mirror glass and stone damage to the windshield. The mirror was replaced while we were doing the paperwork and the car was cleaned. We left that day with the car and only a verbal agreement the windshield would be fixed. Two days later a auto glass company contacted me and replaced the windshield in the auto the next day. I met several other sales people while waiting for paperwork and must say, they seemed down to earth and just working for a living.

My fiance and I was looking to purchase a car , so we went to euromotor sport in Somerset nj ,the guy john was a good sales man very helpful ,so we found a car that we wanted to purchase and we put a deposit on the car and they promised us they wasn't going to sell the car so 3 weeks later we went back to put the full amount of the down payment on the car so we can take it off the lot come to find out the guy Author from north Brunswick area sold the car never called in told us he sold the car or anything so basically we had know knowledge that the car was gone till we got there.then I looked around to see if there was anything else that was affordable so I seen a cherry red bens for 11,500 he told us he couldn't put us in that cause the bank wouldn't approve of it , so we said ok that's find give us our money back and we will take our business somewhere else,so he had a Infiniti there, never service the car no detail no nothing ,I really wasn't interesting In buying the Infiniti ,cause it cost to much way out of our price rang so we took the car anyway we did not have the car know more then 15 days and he (Author)call my phone while I was at work threating me to bring his car back and the reason for that was because he was waiting for my fiancé to drop his pay stub off which we were doing that the day he called and threading me to bring his car back so I had to leave work lost my job behind this situation ,and come to find out he had a sell for it I guess someone came there with more money 😳😳😳Author is a bad sales man and I would never recommend anyone to purchase a car from him 😠😠😠
BEWARE OF FRAUD BY THIS COMPANY - Adam Wallwork
Thrift Auto Sales Inc. fraudulently induced my wife and I to purchase a used Porsche 911 after Thrift Auto's Import Car Specialist at the Mountain Lakes location, Christopher Phillips: (1) Lied about the source of an engine light we'd noticed during the course of the test drive - Sales Representative Phillips claimed the light was for an oil change and claimed Thrift Auto had no copy of the Owner's Manual for the Porsche, which we have still not received, and (2) Lied about the scope of Thrift Auto's warranty, which Sales Representative Phillips and the company's sales manager both claimed would cover any internal issue with the car, preexisting or not.
On the strength of Thrift Auto's lies, we purchased the vehicle, secure in our belief that the law of contract and of conscience would protect us. We bought the car on Friday, July 17, 2015, and brought it to our mechanic the same night. The mechanic contacted me on Monday to tell me that the Porsche's engine light we'd discovered during the test drive was indeed not a light for an oil change, which any Import Car Specialist must have known, but my wife and I, who were purchasing our first car, did not. The cost of the oil change I'd asked for because of Sales Representative Phillips's misrepresentation was about $50; the cost of the internal engine repairs that Sales Representative Phillips had purposely lied to me and my wife about in order to get us to buy the car was thousands. The mechanic also informed me that the Porsche's engine problem was so severe that it could not be driven in the State of New Jersey as it could not pass inspection. However, my mechanic, who also sells motor vehicles, informed me that Thrift Auto could not legally sell me a car that wouldn't pass inspection and he suggested that I contact them about repairing it. He said that he wouldn't repair the car before I spoke to Thrift Auto because he suspected the used car dealership might have an onsite repair service and might not be willing to pay for repairs by an outside mechanic.
Unable to drive the car and unsure who was going to make the repairs or pay for them, I called Thrift Auto's Import Car Specialist shortly 5 p.m. on Monday, July 20, the first workday after we'd purchased the car. He picked up the phone and we spoke for some time that evening about the representations Sales Representative Phillips and his sales manager had made regarding the car's mechanical condition and the company's warranty. Mr. Phillips did not deny he had made these representations and appeared to agree to seek approval of onsite repairs of the Porsche. He told me he would call me back the next day to let me know what Thrift Auto could do by way of correcting his earlier misrepresentation about the car. That was, in fact, the last time I ever spoke to Sales Representative Phillips who neither called nor answered his phone on Tuesday, July 21, or Wednesday, July 22, 2015. It was fitting that the last words he spoke to me were lies. Over the two days following our conversation, I became increasingly concerned about whether Sales Representative Phillips was proceeding in good faith. But I suspected him more of neglect than outright fraud. Had he and his manager not both promised to fix the car if we purchased their warranty at any time within thirty days of purchasing the vehicle? Sales Representative Phillips had promised to call me back no later than Tuesday, July 21, 2015, and when he did not, I decided to call his manager.
Where Sales Representative Phillips had been evasive, his manager was cruel and abrasive. He told me that if I brought the car back to return it he would have it towed back to my house in South Orange. When I informed him of his employee's fraud he sneered and told me we had bought the car "as is," which indeed we had on the strength of the managers assertion that the document only confirmed our decision not to purchase the warranty at the time of purchase but that we could do so anytime thereafter.
I am a tax and business lawyer who does not make accusations of fraud lightly. I am fully aware of the harmful stain such allegations may have on a person's business but I am much more concerned about the cavalier attitude toward fraud expressed not only by the employees of Thrift Auto but also the company's managers and its President, Nikita Ouritski, with whom my wife and I are currently engaged in litigation. This website is devoted to the protection of consumers not those engaged in fraudulent business practices and Thrift Auto's "so sue me" attitude is particularly troubling to me. As a lawyer with a commercial litigation practice and law degrees from the University of Chicago Law School (J.D.) and New York University School of Law (LL.M. Taxation), I have resources that many consumers may not. Most car dealerships forced by New Jersey's Attorney General to acknowledge acts of consumer fraud and pay a settlement of close to $90,000 would not begin defrauding consumers two months later. This one does. In an extraordinary act of brazenness apparently unique to the contracts of Thrift Auto, the BUYERS GUIDE, which each customer must sign, comes with the following warning in bold, capital letters: "IMPORTANT: Spoken promises are difficult to enforce."
Nothing truer was ever written about the practices of Thrift Auto. The same form on which those dark words are written was originally presented to my wife as a temporary waiver of the company's bumper-to-bumper coverage of preexisting conditions, which as we learned later never existed, but which the company now claims waived every right we have under the law. Thrift Auto's statement that "[s]poken promises are difficult to enforce," appearing as it does atop a company's misslabled waiver of warranties, which are presented to consumers as something other, is not only a misstatement of contract law, it is an abomination. There has never been a rule of law that spoken lies are less disastrous to a contract than written ones. Both render the entire contract unenforceable.
On July 17, 2015, my wife and I exchanged our promises for lies: lies by Christopher Phillips and his sales manager about the mechanical condition of the car; lies about the sales tax owed by us for purchasing the car; lies about the proper state of registration for the car; lies about Thrift Auto's bumper-to-bumper warranty, its coverage of preexisting conditions of the vehicle, and its availability for 30 days after purchase; and lies about whether our waivers concerned repairs that could be had under the company's special bumper-to-bumper warrant, as the sales manager said at the time, rather than waivers of legal rights in general, as Thrift Auto now claims.
That's not a contract; it's a farce. For more than a century judges and jurist have drawn on a classic statement of the damage done by fraud to human intercourse. It reads as follows:
"Fraud vitiates and avoids all human transactions, from the solemn judgment of a court to a private contract. It is as odious and as fatal in a court of law as in a court of equity. It is a thing indefinable by any fixed and arbitrary definition. In its multiform phases and subtle shapes, it baffles definition. It is said, indeed, that it is part of the equity doctrine of fraud not to define it, lest the craft of men should find ways of committing fraud which might evade such a definition. In its most general sense, it embraces all 'acts, omissions, or concealments which involve a breach of legal and equitable duty, trust or confidence justly reposed, and are injurious to another, or by which an undue and unconscientious advantage is taken of another.' A judicial proceeding in rem, while generally binding upon all persons, is no more free from the fatal taint of fraud than a proceeding in personam, or an individual contract. When once shown to exist, it poisons alike the contract of the citizen, the treaty of the diplomat, and the solemn judgment of the court." 26 Williston on Contracts § 69:1 (4th ed.), quoting Smith v. Harrison, 49 Tenn. 230, 2 Heisk. 230, 1871 WL 3494 (1871).
The fatal taint of fraud does indeed pervade this company and the people who work there. On Thursday, July 23, 2015, three days after the company had threatened to tow our car if we tried to return it, my wife and I returned to Thrift Auto's Mountain Lakes location to pick up our title. By that time, we no longer believed Sales Representative Phillips or Thrift Auto planned to honor any of the promises it had made less than a week before. We wanted to pick up our title in person since we suspected after reading the Attorney General's consent order against Thrift Auto where the company had sometimes withheld titles from customers. But I was also scared of the sales manager who had yelled at me on the phone and threatened to tow the car back to South Orange if I exercised my contractual right to reject nonconforming goods, so I decided to openly record the visit. Despite the presence of a tape recorder, I was able to confirm that no such warranty on preexisting vehicle conditions had ever been offered by the company, making Thrift Auto's "spoken promises" during our sales contract, in their words, "difficult to enforce."
