Service advisors Mark and Sue along with Honda senior tech John have been great. Was in for service and ended up leasing a new Honda the same day. That was a huge mistake!
Bottom line. DECEPTIVE sales tactics to get a sale. Spent hours working on a deal. First, price of new auto. Second, trade in price. Verbal agreement to proceed with purchase. Salesman Luther Johnson who asked me for ID when I first started talking with him (red flag) said we had a deal after the typical games. Never explained the contract or showed actual prices paid and trade allowance. It was late, had been there for many hours, signed where needed on a iPad with small text and took possession of the vehicle and left my trade only to find out days later as Luther had not forwarded me the sales contract via e-mail as promised even after e-mailing and calling him the following days. When I finally obtained the documents, it was clear LIA Honda never honored the verbal agreement or their own worksheet numbers. LIA sales tacked money back on the price of the new vehicle in the back room before signing. From "we can't do that" to "you have a deal" when in reality, it was all a LIE to get a sale.
Contacted General Manager Ross Hubert via e-mail. Finally got a copy of the contract. After seeing I was scammed and lied to, immediately called and stopped in with my paper work and "worksheets." Ross admitted I was charged more (about $1,400) than agreed upon yet defended this deceptive sales tactic as if it were the norm at LIA Honda and said "I think you have buyers remorse" and "you lied about your trade-in" because I wasn't sure if I was going to trade-in my one owner 2014 Ridgeline, keep it, or run up to Albany, NY and sell to Carmax and purchase a Ridgeline in the Albany area.
After back and fourth, Sales Manager Ross Hubert agreed to get me a Honda Ridgeline OEM Bed Cover which I figured was better than nothing.
My feelings as of today: Need service? You should be fine. Sales? STAY AWAY from any LIA Honda or other brand LIA dealership. I, a senior citizen on a fixed income, now feel like crap when I walk in their dealership and have higher car payments. Gave LIA of Kingston the first chance to get a high quality, clean Honda trade-in which they serviced for years and knew well. In the end, LIA still scammed me. Don't think for one second Ross got me a "free" bed cover after a sale just to be nice. His first offer was free oil changes. As they say, I have the receipts.
Am I the first Salesman Luther Johnson, Sales Manager Curtis Knight and Mathew Panaro (names on paperwork) in LIA Honda sales department played this game with? Sure didn't seem or sound to be the case. You decide. Will still use the service department (for now) but will NEVER purchase or lease from LIA again. Would you?

Ross. I did get your phone message on January 07, 2025 in which you said "I just saw a review that you posted and I was under the impression that we were on a even ground with everything so I just want to see why the turn in feelings."
As you know, many of us were busy with the past holidays and normal day to day activities. I also wanted to give some thought to what I would be said if I even did post review(s) or file complaints with the proper agencies.
Now, pay attention. Yes, I did receive a tonneau cover at no additional charge as originally stated. "Free" however is not a word I would use. There has been no "turn in feelings" nor has "remorse returned." That has not changed from the minute I realized I was scammed by LIA Honda of Kingston. While you may feel we were on "even ground," it does not change the deceptive, dishonest, sales tactic used by LIA Honda of Kingston employee(s). Nice to see you don't dispute that. Of course, might not be the case had I not kept the worksheets (3) I was handed during the negotiation process.
Ross, you had a chance to call salesman Luther Johnson to join us in our first in person conversation after I showed you the worksheets and other documents and find out who was responsible for adding money back on the new car price after negotiations and before signing. You did not. One would hope any auto dealership under the LIA name would not want employees guilty of such deceptive, unethical sales tactics within their organization. One would think a general manager would feel the same. Evidently not. At least not at Kingston, New York, LIA Honda.
If salesman Luther Johnson who is the only one I spoke with the entire time during negotiation and sale, was a honest man, he would have said "this is the best we can do" as I have been told more than once in my five decades of buying new/used vehicles. He did not do that for his own benefit and possibly others.
In closing, this is a auto dealer review. Sharing my experience. I've given the service department high ranking as earned and sales, the lowest possible as deserved. If I truly had vehicle purchase "remorse," the 2025 Ridgeline would not be in my driveway today. I would not have purchased a Honda Care extended warranty from another dealer along with running boards and mud guards. I may be in the market for another vehicle in 3 years. I may not. What I do know is I will not be dealing with any LIA dealership for a new car purchase or lease. That, I can assure you.
