Zero stars but Google forces me to give one to post review. We have a 2012 BMW X5 in immaculate condition. Clean, flawless body and runs like a dream. The car suddenly developed a rattle under the hood review. We have a 2012 BMW X5 in immaculate condition. Clean, flawless body and runs like a dream. The car suddenly developed a rattle under the hood. It was determined that the VANOS bolts had broken causing the noise and also that there was a recall for this exact problem so instead of having this repaired at our expense we called Yark to schedule the recall. I informed the person on the phone at Yark that the valve cover was removed for inspection and asked if it was ok that (since it would all have to be taken apart again) the valve cover was placed back on the engine, she said that was ok. So we towed the car to Yark the Sunday before Labor Day. After numerous delays (which I was actually ok with since the repair was covered) Tyrone called and said the car was finished. He also stated that “it doesn't run very good”. I said what do you mean it doesn’t run very good that car ran great. He said well the service tech said it doesn’t run very good like it has a miss or something. So after a bit of going back and forth I said I would come up and drive it. I did that and sure enough the car ran horrible when you accelerate. I told Tyrone that it ran perfect when I brought it in. He said yeah but we don’t know that, it was brought to us all apart. I said the valve cover was removed and they said that was ok. He kept saying we don’t know how it ran when we got it. Finally I asked for the service manager. Mike Hehl came out and said the same thing. “We don’t know how it ran before we got it” I said I’m telling you it ran great. He said “yeah but we don’t know that” I said I’m telling you it ran great. He repeats “yeah we don’t know that”. I said you are effectively telling me I am lying to you. He said no I’m not calling you a liar. Then he said “what do you want me to do about it?” I said I want you to diagnose it at and tell me why it no longer runs ok at no cost. (I didn’t ask him to fix anything just tell me what is wrong. (And honestly if they came back and said something like well it needs new spark plugs I probably would have went ahead and paid for the diagnostic since they made the effort help.) He agreed and we shook hands. So I called back for three weeks asking if it was done each time I was told there was something more pressing. Finally Tyrone told me that for sure they would look at it on Monday. I call on Monday and Tyrone tells me that a plastic splash guard was broken near then timing chain and that might cause the timing chain to jump. That’s all they could figure out. This splash guard has nothing to do with the timing chain tensioning system so that was a flat our lie. So next I call Scott Moewe for assistance. He literally says “yeah I know about the car what do you want?” I tell him my side of the story and he says “this is an old car with high miles and we’ve never seen it before, there’s nothing else we’re going to do for you.” I pointed out Mike Hehl’s agreement to diagnose it and he repeats “there is nothing more were doing for you. We performed the recall and that’s it”. At this point I’m very unhappy but there is nothing else I can do. I went up and picked up the car. I get it home and notice that all the BMW supplies tools and tow hook are missing. Also missing is the belly pan. I called Tyrone who said we gave back everything we had. I said the belly pan and tools were with the car. He repeats “we gave back everything we had” Also they removed the subframe to do this repair and now the alignment is off and the steering wheel is about 20 degrees off center. Why this place treated me like absolute garbage is beyond me. I suspect that because my car is older and I didn’t buy it there and I don’t throw tons of money at them for service. That was my first time every dealing with them and certainly my last. I implore anyone else to not use them as well. Worst service I’ve ever had of any company in my entire life. More
