Shady pricing. I went in wanting to buy the car outright. They wanted sticker price + markup. Then went into finance who silently added a $650 acquisition fee to the final price. It's only once I reviewed the paperwork at home that I noticed that. They knew I had money to drop the capitalized cost reduction but didn't walk me through the impact on interest. Interest was well hidden and nothing volunteered to help the buyer. Sales suggested a lease to get the rebate/non-cash credit. I suspect this is coming from the tax rebate for buying an EV car (now going to Toyota rather than reducing my taxes) and meant I would feel less upset about paying the DMV fees. On top of all this the car makes every attempt to collect data. At least I caught the opt-out on that. All of this will also impact final sales taxes. Congratulations, you got me! And I hate you for it. I did manage to avoid buying a warranty on a new car and whatever service rip off was coming. Overall, I will share with anyone and everyone that Toyota in general dishonest by permitting this behavior. Fremont Toyota is the absolute worst. More
