1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Custom Convertible Sometimes there is a car that is so iconic, it transcends being sought after by just classic car enthusiasts and becomes an artifact recognized by almost anyone in the general public. If there was one car to epitomize this phenomenon, it would be the Tri-Five Chevrolet- and a Bel Air Convertible to be specific. This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Custom Convertible is an absolutely outstanding example that has been thoroughly restored and upgraded over the years to make it not just look better than new but also drive better. Finished in a gorgeous Gypsy Red and India Ivory, this Bel Air has a perfect stance, sitting on a set of chrome 5-spoke Craiger Mag wheels. Even from across the parking lot you can tell that this Bel Air is a quality build, every piece of it just looks right, and the closer you get the more you appreciate it. The restoration took over 2 years to complete and is based off of an Art Morrison chassis which brings modern handling and comfort to this classic. Considerable time was spent dialing in the body to ensure excellent panel gaps and no waves or dips, before it was painted with PPG two-stage paint, topped by multiple layers of clear coat for a show car finish. All of the chrome pieces were removed and triple-dipped to ensure the chrome was as shiny as possible, with the bumpers and emblems having a real mirror-like shine. The convertible top is a brand new fabric unit built by Haartz which is of the highest quality and provides significant insulation when up, and a power top mechanism has been affixed. The interior is finished in luxurious tan Italian leather, which is accented by red stitching throughout the car. A custom rear boot for the convertible top was made to match in the same leather, and makes for a truly cohesive looking package. Sitting between the driver and passenger on the floor is a custom leather wrapped console with switches for some of the upgraded features such as the power top, Bluetooth stereo with custom speaker setup and Vintage Air A/C. The carpet has also been upgraded with high end German-style square weave carpet in tan that gives the car a remarkably luxurious, yet classic feel when you get inside. An original style steering wheel frames a new set of gauges that look original, but offer accurate readouts in the standard layout. Although everything about this car is impressive, where it truly shines is beneath the surface. Sitting up front is a brand new fuel injected 383ci stroker V8 with aluminum heads and a modern serpentine pulley system. When combined with a Griffin aluminum radiator and dual electric fans, this is a rock sold setup from a reliability standpoint and offers more than enough power to have some fun behind the wheel. Power is then sent through a custom 4-speed automatic gearbox out to the rear wheels. With the Art Morrison chassis as a base, a custom front subframe with a fully independent suspension and power rack and pinion steering has been
