1960 Volkswagen Bus This German built iconic and highly sought after 1960 Volkswagen 23-window microbus with the desirable Samba Package is straight out of Ventura California, the result of a thorough nut-and-bolt restoration completed in 2022. The Samba Package on top of the Deluxe model brought 8 skylight windows and a canvas sunroof to make it a 23 window bus. This bus was not born with that package and was added. Powered by a rebuilt stock 1500cc flat-4 air-cooled NOM, dual port heads, engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, this bus is an absolute joy to drive and gives more power over the stock 1200. The simplicity of the mechanics of this car lend to its appeal. The van's 12-volt electrical system was redone during restoration, along with the brakes and suspension parts. Period-correct bell pans were also added to the undercarriage for improved structural rigidity. This fully restored example is painted Mango Green/Seagull Grey with Silver White painted bumpers with overriders on the exterior and is complimented by a spacious vinyl camel brown interior with white piping, along with color coordinated door and side panels, as well as a beige mohair headliner. Black rubber mat covers the front floor with while tan square-weave carpets cover the rear floors and cargo area. Dual swing-out doors provide access to a rear compartment that features two rows of bench seats. Additional equipment includes an overhead ventilation unit, a passenger side grab handle, a handy storage shelf and a Custom Autosound USA -230 stereo. Body colored 15 inch steel wheels wearing VW stamped hubcaps are mounted with 165- series Coker Classic whitewall tires giving this great bus a fun and nostalgic look. Safari front windows, pop-out side windows, a retractable vinyl sunroof, dual mirrors makes this a standout amongst others. This is undoubtedly one of the coolest VW bus on the market today.
