Seller's Comments
When you think of a Cadillac you probably dont think Italy, Pininfarina and San Georgio Canavese. However, it should because GM wanted a new look, in fact they referred to the Allante as The New Spirit Of Cadillac. This did not go unnoticed with the designers back in Hamtramack where they were a little hurt with the idea of using an overseas company to not only design the Allante, but to also build the Bodys of the cars. Then you know what is crazy, The chassis were flown to Italy from Detroit and then flown back for final assembly. That is one of the main reasons for the cost. IN 1991 they were over $50,000 new which equates to over $125,000 in todays numbers. In addition to being expensive, this kept the volume down with just over 21,000 units produced from 1987 through 1993 and just about 2,000 of those were for the 1991 year. This particular Allante is believed to be just a 2-owner unit with it never being used as a daily driver or in fact used in the winter months at all. This Allante does not come with a factory hardtop. It does have the fully electronic dash that is in good working order with no lights on the dash. These cars were notorious for the dash having some quirks, the radios not working and power windows having issues, this one does not, and appears everything works including the climate control. Another known issue is the power assist tops were very finicky but this one does operate as it should with a little help. The interior and mileage are a plus for this car, the exterior paint is in good condition with a few door dings and minor blemishes as you could imagine for the age of the car. It starts, runs and brakes as it should and goes down the road quite nicely. These cars were way ahead of their time and are very inexpensive to buy. A modern collectible worth a look for sure.
