This is the last year of a generation of Outbacks that really got the difference between elegance and sophistication right. Honestly, it's not super sophisticated, but it nailed elegant. A simple seat that's very maneuverable, a basic layout of REAL buttons that you click and push rather than touch, and enough modern technology to make it comfortable without going over the top. The white exterior and tan leather interior make it comfortable, easy to clean, and welcoming to look at for an economy car. With a 2.5L boxer engine that has 173hp and produces 174ft. lbs. of torque, the highly effect Symmetrical All Wheel Drive from Subaru, and a sleek wagon style SUV crossover sized body, this Outback still gets 30mpg on the highway and 24 mpg in the city. It has a solid feel while driving without being sluggish, and it grips the road like it knows what it's doing as opposed to just be heavy. More recent generations of Outbacks have felt clunkier and larger to drive and park, but for size and power this one is a great place to end up.
