The 2021 Hyundai Kona's #1 ranking is based on its score within the 2021 Affordable Subcompact SUVs category. It is the winner of our 2021 Best New Cars for Teens award and a finalist for our 2021 Best Subcompact SUV for the Money award. The 2021 Kona is a good used subcompact SUV. This two-row Hyundai has comfortable front seats and a modern cabin that is cozy and welcoming. Its projected ownership costs are average for the class. The Kona rides smoothly and handles well. The base SE model comes with cloth seats, a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, two USB ports, Bluetooth and a six-speaker stereo. Standard driver-assistance features include a rearview camera, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist and driver-attention monitoring. The SEL trim adds proximity keyless entry, push-button start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, heated front seats, satellite radio, HD Radio and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The SEL Plus gains Hyundai's Blue Link telematics system, a sunroof, an eight-speaker Infinity premium stereo, wireless device charging and a power-adjustable driver's seat. In addition to the stronger powertrain, the Night Edition trim has unique styling elements and gains LED headlights, satellite radio and HD Radio. It does not have a sunroof or wireless device charging, however.
