Overall I had a good experience but More of a 3.25 stars as opposed to a 3.0. This review will be a mixture of three different pieces: a) Customer service - Jairo (sales) and Karina More of a 3.25 stars as opposed to a 3.0. This review will be a mixture of three different pieces: a) Customer service - Jairo (sales) and Karina (finance) - 4 stars b) The product - Maserati Ghibli S Q4 - 3.5 stars c) The business practice itself - 21 Century Auto Group 2 stars On the evening of April 25, I ended up going to 21st Century Auto Group with my eyes wide open and bought a very decently priced 2014 Maserati Ghibli S Q4. I'd say my experience was slightly above average, but ultimately it will be up to the individual customer. I'll describe each of the contributing factors below that lead to my rating: a) Jairo was my salesperson (4.0 stars): Overall I felt he was very nice and pleasant to deal with. I didn't feel extremely pressured at all to buy. He had to the time and I had the time. I came in telling him what I wanted and he showed me all of the vehicles in the colors my wife was looking for. He even quickly showed us a comparison or two of other cars we might have been interested. When we said, "Nah", he actually told us no worries let's just continue looking at the Maseratis. He wasn't too pushy at all when it came time for negotiations - a regular sales person looking to make a sale I would say. In the end, one thing I actually respected was the fact that he recommended us not to leave our car overnight at their dealership because there was a chance it could be keyed, broken into, or stolen. Finally, we were never pressured to purchase any sort of extended warranty or whatever. It was always up to us and we were even told we could choose outside. Karina was very pleasant and I felt at ease with her demeanor. She made the finance process very easy. While I thought I could have gotten a better rate, honestly I didn't bother. I intend to pay off the loan earlier anyway and the higher interest rate is insignificant to me. Karina helped to provide us gap insurance and again, never pressured us into purchasing anything else. I liked that very much. b) The Maserati S Q4 (3.5 stars): We were able to haggle the price down to what I felt was extremely reasonable. While my wife and I had originally came for the Maserati Quattroporte S (I'll explain below), we still left very satisfied. This car had approximately 22k miles on it and was still under warranty. The car itself worked fine after a brief test drive and because it was under warranty, I didn't bother with a PPI. Again, this is what I personally chose to do in this situation. It was dark and raining when I ended up driving home. What I ended up noticing during the next few days were the following: 1- rear passenger side tire was extremely low pressure (after filling up twice it looks like it may need to be replaced) 2- missing owners manual 3- windshield wiper blades needed to be replaced 4- both key fobs had low battery and had to be replaced 5- some paint chips in the lower part of the passenger car door and lower front bumper 6- They wouldn't fill up gas and it was less than 1/5 full. I would say about 70 miles to empty. In my personal opinion these aren't deal breakers and were easily remedied (I have fixed them myself or will be soon). Anything else found can be done by the dealer. The key here is realizing these are cars are "as is". If you don't like it or don't want to fix anything, don't buy it. Also, you MUST be willing to haggle. They don't start off giving the best prices, you need to work for it. c) 21st Century Auto business itself (2 star): This has to do with how the business itself had some very questionable practices. The prior reviews are definitely spot on regarding this. But then again, reading them helped educate me before I went to this dealership. Basically several items here to point out or re-iterate: 1- bait and switch is indeed alive and well. You expect one price and don't get it. In my case I saw what I felt was an amazing deal for any Maserati Quattroporte in their inventory. Of course, when I get there the first inkling I knew it was false was seeing the sticker had no resemblance of e-online pricing. We are talking quite a big difference apart. They should under promise and over deliver not the other way around and over promise and under deliver (aka manage people's expectations). 2- hidden fees While you will be told it is in the small print on the dealer website, the prices should be crystal clear, not the opaque. There was the college discount, veteran's discount, and loyalty discount. We were able to negotiate about 60-75% of it away. 3- the small stuff When I purchase a use car I would actually expect a lot of the little things I mentioned above to be taken care of. I'm a bit easy on this stuff, but many customers are not. Overall, I would buy again if I can get a great deal from them. More
