We are very sorry that you had a bad experience with the 802 Toyota Service Department. We understand you might have thought your vehicle was going to have an oil change during your visit, but an oil change is not required on a new vehicle until it comes in for the 10,000 mile service. The free service at 5,000 miles includes a multi point inspection and tire rotation. We invited you in for the free service to make sure your new car is still running as smoothly as it did when you first bought it from us and fix any issues we may find with the vehicle. We are sorry you felt we were untrustworthy but we did all of the services that were required at 5,000 miles. Please be in touch with Phil Daley, 802 Toyota Scion Service Director, who would be happy to speak with you more about this. His direct phone number is (802) 224-7271.

Then you should educate your staff who told me when I called that I would be getting an oil change. Rather than wasting 2 hours of my day and making up excuses, own up to the mistake. Not to mention that the service tech was advised of my concern when I was picking my vehicle up and I was assured the oil was changed. There was only excuses made when I brought up the fact that I knew my oil filter was not touched. I will be making this public as well. Especially elderly and young woman who may not know how to even check for these things.

Thank you Roger, I appreciate your response, but I'm not sure I have too much else to add. I get that I might not be the easiest of customers and I'm sure Ken & Sabrina can fill you in on that. I talked to Heritage over the phone on Saturday and will probably be buying a car up there tonight. Three things made me walk away from your dealership without making a purchase: 1) unwillingness/difficulty matching the deals touted on toyota.com ... I was looking at the Tacoma, $3K down and $227/mth for 24 months. First Ken was trying to convince me that that deal was for a FWD truck. Not true. Secondly when we finally located one that was close and then he still made it out to be that the advertised downpayment did not cover first month payment. Again not true. Finally, the one you had one the lot had $400 of additional stuff in it (floor mats, exhaust tip) and that all added directly into the payment. Having that entire difference fall 100% to the bottomline for me seemed petty. 2) I was initially looking at a RAV4 and your folks behind the glass had come back with some deal. Listed $17.3K for my trade-in. I eventually decided against the RAV4 because it was more than I wanted to pay for a car I didn't love. When it came down to talking about the RAV4 then my trade-in was suddenly worth over $2K less. Some back and forth with Ken revealed that according to him you couldn't really offer that for my car. If I wanted $17.3K for my car then the lease cost would go up by over $2K. In the end what you had offered wasn't really a true offer ... it was apparently "some amount + help financing additional amount to try to make me feel good". 3) The final straw came during those last minutes when Ken tried saying that you hadn't really offered $17.3K (16K + 1,300 to pay off the loan). What you had offered was 16K - 1,300 to pay off the loan so $14.7K ... so I should be happy that he was now bumping it "up" to $15K. This is downright untrue.

Although many mechanics are very good at what they do, no one knows a Toyota better than a Toyota certified technician. We follow the rules that are set by the Vermont Department of Motor Vehciles when it comes to Vermont State Inspection requirements. We highly encourage you to contact the Vermont DMV and set up an inspection of the items that we said failed their requirements. Literally, they are "the law" when it comes to state inspections. We have had in the past, customers bring their vehciles to other mechanics for a second opinion stating that their mechanic said that it didnt need the work. I am happy to say, when customers did contact the DMV to have the items looked into, they confirmed and agreed with our reasons for failing the Vermont State Inspection requirements. The DMV looks out for customers best interested, after all, your tax money is paying them. Please feel free to contact me directly if you show a desire Sincerely, Philip Daley Service Director 802-224-7271 phil_daley@vtcars.com
