inventory neglect I went in looking for a used 2014 Acura MDX. I was told that the vehicle is in storage due to the lack of storage space in the shop itself and that it I went in looking for a used 2014 Acura MDX. I was told that the vehicle is in storage due to the lack of storage space in the shop itself and that it would take 20 min. since it is 5 blocks away. Understandable so I waited......and waited........an hour later the car finally arrives. Got in for a short and slow test drive due to the streets and traffic in Beverly hills so I didn't get a good feel for the vehicle. After the test drive I got to inspect the vehicle more closely. Noticed paint chips through out the vehicle, tires worn down and needed replacing, painted over scratches all over the hood, and (major alert) "service/ maintenance code light" on in the dash. Car Fax reports vehicle originated from CO. then to MN. then to CA. Dealer wanted $39K. I offered $35K and the sales lady smiled and said "no, that wasn't gonna happen because the manager was gonna say no." I made clear my concerns regarding the condition of the vehicle with my offer. She states that since they are an Audi dealer they don't deal with Acura so the mechanics won't know the code and all I had to do was take it to an Acura dealer for them to fix it. She continues on that it won't cost so much to fix since Acura's don't cost as much as Audi's. She claims that they can, will, and rather take the vehicle to an auction to get that money. All this yet she knows nothing about Acura and kept referring the vehicle to a Mazda. My issue isn't so much the "code" and the defects of the car. The issue was the neglect and lack of care that the dealer showed on the vehicle. one of THEIR inventory vehicles. They had the vehicle 2 months and the code was never taken care of let alone cleared for any sales. Dust, cob webs all over the vehicle, and the amount of time it took for them to move ALL the other vehicles JUST to get to the MDX tells me NO ONE came to see the vehicle. Not putting new/ newer tires when the old ones have very little tread life on them. In common sense, make the vehicle "PRESENTABLE" for sale. I can see inventory neglect from a tiny corner sales lot but not from a Certified Brand Dealer. Needless to say I walked away and an hour later as I am driving to the next dealer Beverly Hills Audi calls. They call again the next day (on behalf of the manager) as I have already purchased another vehicle and going home 4 hours drive north. Fast forward a week later and the same vehicle is still on sale but now for $38K. I for one won't ever be going back to this dealer. More
