I am outraged at Austin Subaru. I brought my forester in for a “check engine” light issue on Wednesday7-27-22. The same day they told me the light was caused by built up carbon on the intake valves. They (Joseph Mendoza…don’t let me get started about his incompetence) forwarded an estimate for that repair ($1,700) the repair estimate alone with four other repair item in urgent need of repair. The total estimate for the diagnosed check engine light was $9,500!!! I told them Are you out of your mind, the car is only worth $14,000. Joseph told me that the other items on the estimate, items like reseal the entire engine ($5,500) were recommended and had nothing to do with getting the check engine light to go off. The estimate said that these items were in urgent need of repair. Talk about “selling Up”. I had to rent a car from Enterprise because I knew the (1,700) repair would take a per day to complete, based on what Joseph Mendez erroneously told me. Joseph texted me today (he doesn’t like to make the phone call) to tell me that cleaning the carbon off the valves would take until late Tuesday. What??? Moreover, Joseph texted me that they did not have a loaner to give me until late August. Great customer service, NOT! So now I’m looking at a $1,000 rent car bill on top of Austin Subaru’s charges. Finally, my Forester was in Austin Subaru 5 weeks ago for the exact same “check engine” light issue. At that time they cleaned out the #1 & #2 cylinder and replaced the badly corroded spark plugs for $1,700. I told Joseph Mendoza that I should be issued a credit, since the new estimate was to perform the same exact repair. No reply 2 days later. I will call the General Manager tomorrow with this same information. Based on my horrible experience, I strongly suggest not giving Austin Subaru your business. More
The waiting room is comfortable and the service people are wonderful and so communicative. I was kept up to date on what was happening with my car and everything was explained well. Tony recommended that I take my car in on Sunday and that worked out fine. Gabriel notified me that there was a radio software update and that was also taken care of. Adam understood all test and service problems done at Delaware dealer before I moved to Austin. I see some customer comments about video and pics of inspection results, I'd be interested in that on my next visit which is scheduled later in July. More
The visit did not start out well as I had scheduled some dent repair (sold to me at vehicle purchase) and that was not coordinated to have the folks available as was noted in an email from Devin.
