I was not expecting the absurd fees, you attempted to charge me more destination for a used unit you likely took in on trade than a $40,000 STI sitting in your show room. Dealer prep fee of $1000 when th charge me more destination for a used unit you likely took in on trade than a $40,000 STI sitting in your show room. Dealer prep fee of $1000 when the car wasn’t even detailed (Yet I was told it had been gone through completely) and had only 38k so likely needed little to nothing. Jose Ferreira insisted on talking to me even though I was all set and wanted to leave, acted uninterested and bothered, and let it slip that those fees were intended to make up some money against your internet prices... uh, what? So they aren’t actually for dealer prep and destination? They are in fact arbitrary fees to get additional money, which really makes your advertised prices fraudulent? Got it. Jose was pretty quick to wipe out those fees which almost seems like they are just there to prey on the passive or inattentive. While Mike was doing the old “gotta see what the bosses say” routine going back and forth to the sales desk Chris Shepherd was making fun of other customers at the sales desk, within ear shot of me.. bad look. Richard Piniero would not take no for an answer on extended coverage and even went as far as to bad mouth the product I was buying. His “sale tactics” were almost to bully level. They tried to push a $7,800 warranty on me. First they agreed I didn’t need gap insurance because I got a decent deal, but once I said no to the other coverage (after insisting I needed it because Subaru’s are NOT in fact reliable), they started insisting I needed Gap insurance, because apparently I not only WILL get into a car accident, not only will I wreck the car, but it will DEFINITELY be my fault and I’ll be upside down... I said I really didn’t think I would need it and he responded wide eyed “you will! You will!” Like, what the heck guy, thanks for the bad karma! No means no. The purchase took I think 2hr and 45 min and was exhausting. Between Jose and his blindsiding fees and Richard, my purchase experience was so atrocious I couldn’t get over it, resented the Subaru I bought, and sold it less than three months later. Ironically, I sold it to Port City Nissan for $200 more than I paid at Autofair, so I guess Jose was right, the internet price was pretty good! But I would have still bought an $18,000 forester, not a $17,000 one with a fraudulent $1,000+ fee. It’s not my fault apparently stock sits so long you’re forced to drop the price online so much. And Mike Testa WAS great, but the rest were so poor I almost feel like it was a good cop bad cop thing and Mike knew what I was in for. You ruined my car buying experience. Also, the internet department told me they would talk to the sales desk about the online price I saw and of course that didn’t come to fruition because Mike knew nothing about it. there was also miscommunication about insurance. So, if you want to go to Autofair expect $2,600 in additional fees and to be harassed into buying a $7,800 warranty. Just a $10,400 difference! I walked into Autofair a little excited because of their “125k mike autofair certifies warranty” and Richard in finance belittled that and made it seem like it covered nothing, all while trashing the reliability of the brand of vehicles the dealer sells?!? Such a bizarre experience. More
