I took my vehicle in because the battery was defective and it was covered by my Mopar insurance. They told me the diagnosis would take a week, which I accepted since I bought my car at this AutoNation and and it was covered by my Mopar insurance. They told me the diagnosis would take a week, which I accepted since I bought my car at this AutoNation and I’m familiar with their process. On two previous occasions, I had left my car for service, and both times they were very kind and provided me with a courtesy car while I waited for the diagnosis. What surprised me this time was how the young man who assisted me treated me as if I were stupid, as if it were absurd to ask whether they could provide a courtesy car. He looked at me as if I were delusional and making it up. He reminded me that only once a diagnosis was completed could I get a rental car for five days, as stated in my Mopar insurance. I clarified that I understood the process and that I was referring to the courtesy car. He made me waste about 15 minutes arguing that I didn’t even have the right to ask for a courtesy car, only to finally admit that they didn’t have any available at the moment and that he would put me on a waiting list. I’ve worked in customer service for 10 years, and I know that when a courtesy service is unavailable, there are polite and considerate ways to communicate that to a customer. More
